So I keep asking around, and I get conflicting answers (one guy even said "huh?!"), so I was hoping you all here at Veeky Forums could put the issue to rest:

Yes, they aren't grains...

You have the whole internet at your disposal and you come to a site where 25% of the posters unironically think soy sauce is going to give them itty bitty titties.

No, potatoes are a grain, and therefore contain gluten

I just need to know if these french fries with the spicy breading will give me glutebeetus, and they are mostly potatoes so i gotta ask fampai.

that's exactly what happens.

eating soy make you a weak pussy voting for hillary and watching blacked.com all day and attend feminist rallies.

fire is a grain

Of course they're gluten free you fucking dumbass, but if fried in oil contaminated with gluten they could take on some of those particles.

if i can't trust a random imbecile on Veeky Forums who can i trust

Not sure if I trust that site, what with all the Snopes connections...

no. Potatoes are a carbohydrate source/staple and thus contain gluten.

>I'll just trust nothing instead
Uh... ok

Thank you for finally telling me the truth. I guess all these other anons are just shilling for the zionist potato conspiracy.

Thank you for being truthful user.

This topic is pretty cringey, just so you know.

Yes they are gluten free, they are not a grain.

Potato fries are sometimes coated in flour batter that makes them more crispy. The flour is sometimes made from wheat. Check the ingredients list if you can.

If anything else containing gluten goes in the same oil your fries go in the oil will contaminate your food.

>cringey
I think you missed the reddit thread, my friend

You show up to reddit threads? Wow you're a bigger faggot than I thought.

>upboated :^)

>one guy even said "huh?!

Jesus christ, vodka just came out of my nose.

>THIS upset about being called out for his bait
wew

Are potatoes vegan?

Nah, they contain butter.

What if it is vegan butter

Not all grains contain gluten
it's just wheat, oats, rye, and barley
and any hybrid species

corn doesn't have gluten, rice doesn't have gluten, etc

I'm intolerant to the word "gluten" and y'all just triggered my ass.

I'm gonna fuckin' kill myself.

good

What if Veeky Forumswas straight?

Only gluten free if fried in wheat oil. This oil neutralizes the gluten in the patatoes

Tapaters! Pataters!

This but unironically

Potatoes will cause a spike in blood sugar.

huh?

What?

No, potatoes grow on trees like walnuts do, but the limbs hang down into the ground like a peanut tree does so they develop underground. It is the soil that leaches out the gluten naturally. Hydroponic potatoes are the ones that are grown in pools instead of in soil so they don't have gluten leached out yet. If you want your hydroponic potatoes to be gluten free, you need to put them in some soil and store them in a brown paper bag in your fridge for 1 month. Then toss out the soil any place you don't want contaminated with gluten.

Cute bun

>worrying about whether potatoes contain gluten or not
>not worrying about how they contain saponins that give you leaky gut syndrome and how people even died from eating too much potatoes

>leaky gut syndrome

Isn't that caused from reading too many conspiracy theorist websites?

>the allergy and autoinmune disease epidemic is just a meme bro
>fuck off conspiracy theorist
>what are you? antisemitic?

That's a nice letter opener

I'm a farmer who grows nearly all my food in order to avoid all that crap.

>wonder why you are low energy, low libido, depressed and with lowered cognitive function
>laugh at people who are smart enough to research stuff and don't risk their health by eating controversial food in the middle of a never before seen epidemic

Breading usually contains flour, numbnuts.

Things which contain gluten: wheat, barley, rye.
Anything made FROM wheat, barley, or rye will ALSO have gluten in it.

Couscous is made from flour, btw. Oh, and Oats and barley are harvested at the same time, so they are often stored adjacent. Unless your oats/oatmeal is certified gluten free, about 1% of it is barley.

Shit people usually miss by not checking ingredients:
malt/malt flavoring
soups (flour thickener is super common)
commercial bullion and broths
cold cuts (gluten is a binding agent)
French fries (often dusted with flour before freezing)
processed cheese (e.g., Velveeta)
mayonnaise
ketchup
malt vinegar
soy sauce and teriyaki sauces
salad dressings
imitation crab meat, bacon, etc
egg substitute
tabbouleh
sausage
non-dairy creamer
fried vegetables/tempura
gravy
marinades
canned baked beans
cereals
commercially prepared chocolate milk
breaded foods
fruit fillings and puddings
hot dogs
ice cream
root beer
energy bars
trail mix
syrups
seitan
wheatgrass
instant hot drinks
flavored coffees and teas blue cheeses
meatballs, meatloaf communion wafers
veggie burgers
roasted nuts
beer
oats (unless certified GF)
oat bran (unless certified GF)

I drank a bottle of soylent and this happened to me
