Cheddar has a mild flavor that doesn't overpower a dish and is also something most people would agree they enjoy.

Jack is a way more common suggestion than cheddar. Why are you lying, OP?

What's the problem? You can always customize and add whatever cheeses you'd like, you don't have to follow recipes exactly.

DeathDog

follow the recipe
use another cheese rather than cheddar

What the fuck is that supposed to mean? Literally every single recipe that exists can be customized, that's part of the point of cooking your own food.

Different people have different taste preferences. Some people may not enjoy the flavor a certain ingredient gives a dish while others will love the flavor it does. People tend to use things like cheddar because it's generally something that people will agree upon so more people will be able to enjoy the dish you cook. If you'd rather a cheese with a stronger flavor because you like the flavor it gives the dish, then fucking do it. If this concept eludes you maybe you should just stick to McDonald's and hotdogs.

Most recipes go with the assumption that you're not a 30 year old virgin NEET cooking for one. Families generally make one communal dish for everybody instead of making each member their own personal dish.

Every single recipe you've ever seen or used is an iteration of a recipe, every single one has already been changed you autistic fuck.
