man, I can't read Philip Roth. Had to translate part of one of his books into French at uni - his prose just seemed so clunky and needlessly exhausting to me. Each to his own, I guess.

I'm not the kind that likes to tell you just what I want you to do

I only read Americal Pastoral once, when I was like 14. I liked it, mainly because it shitted on hippies. One of those books that did make an impact on me

Fuck off back to High Fidelity

He's ok but he's ruined every fucking creative writing program in north america
every fucking tenured professors swears by his "realism" and cuts down anything serious or reflexive or speculative

Unironically such a good book

Can't choose favorite books, so I just put the one that I read recently.

Runescape only has that spot because of the countless hours I poured into it in my youth. Don't worry, I don't think it's an objectively great game or anything.

Infinite Jest is fantastic but it's not the kind of thing I would recommend to everyone. Many people say you don't really get into it untill around 200-300 pages in, so I'd stick it out until then at least. If you're coming up on 500 or 600 and you're still not into it, I'd recommend you just move on.

Thanks, I'll give it a try next summer, when I have a lot of free time. I've used the last summer to read War & Peace (didn't take me literally all summer, but a good 18 days).

How is this not a /soc/ thread, again?

cool guys

too out there for me, bro, and your movie choices are making it hard for me to not picture how you look irl. I like Oblivion and Emerson.

You have shit taste

Because they're talking about books and giving extra information as to how their other hobbies might inform their literature preferences.

It's like a distilled, structured kinda small-talk that you can use to skill the conversational footsies. Which is nice, because this is an imageboard with a softcap on posts. So having all that information there actually suits this format.

what are some good challenging games like dark souls?

If you have a ps3 I'd recommend you pick up Demons Souls. Cuphead is also great and challenging but it's not even remotely similar to dark souls.

It does. However, it's important to understand others point of views.

You also don't understand psychological projection.
