This book changed my life. It's the perfect answer to the modern man's propagandized view of socialism. Must read.

I used to be /pol/ but after I read it I really turned around on things and realized so much of my life was dedicated to hate at the wrong target
Have been much more at peave and social ever since I read it

>why socialism works

Ah, OP being a faggot, brings back memories.

t. brainlet who wasn't read it

Honestly kill yourself

Rude

I wish I was you right now user, I remember reading it for the first time, it was amazing, the ending was a real surprise

S-sorry user

put me in the screencap

t. doesn't understand market mechanisms, pareto efficiency, etc.

Open your mind to it user, you fucking right wing nazi, it changed my life

Read Cockshott's Towards A New Socialism. It talks about practically organising a planned economy and is one of the best models for actually existing socialism.

amazon.com/Why-Socialism-Works-Harrison-Lievesley/dp/1521531218

>This is a comprehensive book on how and why socialism will work, despite your friends saying it has and always will be a failure. Please note this book only contains two words and is entirely satire.

I have been bamboozled.

>Look inside

>capitalists in charge of history
Planned economies that already existed achieved amazing results considering their technological level and primitive methods of planning. I always enjoy this hypocrisy of pretending the USSR was a total economic failure, and at the same time the biggest historical thread to global capitalism.
In comparison, computerised planning that we could do today would be amazing. Production based on physical units instead of market incentives is within our grasp.

ah so it was a bait thread by retards and others pretending to be retarded

so this board is really just a staging ground for mental masturbation and political spats that go nowhere and convince no one.

OP why not make a real thread? or just not post?

>mfw my shitposting is turning into a full blown argument

Was bored desu

>doesn't understand guns versus butter

the Soviet Union was a fucking stagnant shit hole

yup...

Also, the whole "dude computer socialism lmao" thing still presupposes that the relevant information could be gathered into a single location. Not to mention that wanting to centralize the directing of the entire economy is literally totalitarian.

Imagine actually saying this

>implying any of that shit matters when you can just use violence to force people to do whatever you want

>the Soviet Union was a fucking stagnant shit hole
>recovered on its own after taking the brunt of WW2 and still explored space before the US even thought about it

>recovered on its own after taking the brunt of WW2 and still explored space before the US even thought about it

>doesn't understand guns versus butter

butter society > guns society

>butter society > guns society
Disagreed

>why socialism works
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

...

It doesn't.

You need to read the book, it'll u
Open your mind, and expand it

HAHAHAHAHA
guys

GUYS

I'm a WAGE SLAVE LMFAO AHAHAHAHAHA

Leaving aside even the gathering of that information (and what exact information is necessary), I have yet to see a single proposed algorithm for how to use that information.

>Loot Nazi V2 rocket factories

WE WUZ ROCKET SCIENTISTS AND SHIT

Imagine actually not saying this

AHAHAHAHAHAHA
you have good images saved, user

I bet it does make good points in theory, but
>Venezuela
For you(not you specifically user. :-)) to say "that wasn't real communism to be uttered out of your mouth, you dance on the graves of millions lifeless by communist regimes and you fetishize the future creation of millions of more graves. The person who suggests that the Soviet Union, for example, was not a true communist state, suggests this idea as a warrant to try “true” communism. This person is seduced by the fragrant stench of gamble, the gamble of unobtainable perfection by the fallible man and millions of bodies stacked on one another in mass graves.

Yeah but then they ran out of food.

This'll undo some of the brainwashing you've subjected yourself to.

why are COINTELPRO gish galloping their own thread

Does anyone else get that the Soviet Union, Mao's China, Pol Pot's Cambodia, and other communist regimes killed almost 100 million people in less that 100 years? That's unfathomable. The crusades amounted to like 1-3 million deaths in 200 years. The majority of communist death wasn't sophisticated technology of war. It was so painful starvation to the point of death. I genuinely don't see how people can even dare to suggest trying communism. They have to be willfully blind or see more millions dead as a good opportunity cost for the sake of communism. I think one of the scariest parts about communism is that men like Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot didn't need a god to kill millions...

>reading 17 books at once

Austrian reactions are the best reactions.

How can it change something you never had?
No, no, user it finally gave you something to live for, where you can see yourself as some enlightened protagonist.
It's a phase we all go through.

Just finished up Souls of Black Folk today, still deciding what to read next.

The Master and Margarita, 100 pages left

how is it?

>The Master and Margarita
Started that yesterday. Only ~70 pages in and I'm loving it already. Probably the most immediately captivating book I've read since Moby-Dick.

i keep hearing about this book so i though fuck it ill read it

>practically organising a planned economy

>being a slave to the party is better than being a slave to your wage

I'm not a communist, so take this as a suggestion not as a counter-argument.

There's a field dedicated to the study this problem: operational research. Operational research has many models and algorithms used to address problems of scheduling and production. One of my professors worked in industry building a simulation model of an entire mining company, including external factors like train schedules, shipping routes, and market prices for mineral ores. The model is used to estimate the probability of future events and compare the outcomes of alternative decisions.

If it was possible to model the economy like this, it would have been done long ago. In reality though all our economic models are inaccurate.

>Varoufakis

>including external factors like . . . market prices
A planned economy would not have a pricing system; some alternative method would have to exist for you to redistribute goods and services, or it wouldn't be a planned economy. Planning is absolutely essential for a plant or a factory; those are exactly the types of firms where optimized efficiency would be of great importance (produce better goods at faster rates and for lower prices). However, they all depend on those external factors from other market actors (train schedules, shipping routes, mineral prices, etc.). Planning an entire economy means no external factors to account for, but infinitely many internal factors to worry about, therefore vastly different algorithms and models are required.

I encourage you to research what is called "the economic calculation problem" for more on this.

>pic mostly unrelated

If we could model the economy there wouldn't be a debate about economic systems. We can't model turbulence and probably never will. We can't model atoms larger than helium. Our math sucks, and the world is infinitely complex. You're delusional.

it can be done

>posts the guy who designed dota 2 and csgo microtransactions
Oh how i love champagne commies

>posting the same bait thread on /b/

Busted, faggot.
