The only one I find completely unacceptable is fucking Howard Zinn. Including comics in your Top 100 is also a rather pleb move.

Maybe he didn't care about the autistic patrician/pleb dichotomy

Neither do plebs with terrible taste

They probably think they are "patricians"

Im pretty sire hese are the only books he's read in his entire life. Its such a miss match of occasional introductory classics, pop-psychology, and contemporary popular novels for it to be a carefully selected list. There wasnt much in the pool to choose from. At least he read something.

>Its such a miss match of occasional introductory classics, pop-psychology, and contemporary popular novels
That's actually a fairly normal assembly for average people's favorite list.

fuckin' kek. great retort, you patrician you.

he's /our guy/

>Wyndam Lewis
>Mishima
>Elliot [sic]
>Dos Passos
>Paglia
>Lawrence
>Tomasi di Lampedusa

When Bowie was living in Berlin he had a self-painted portrait of Mishima hanging on the walls.
indeed /our guy/

Eh, Homer and Dante made it at least. But not even the entire Divine Comedy, just the Inferno. I think he's mostly a pleb.

he read earthly powers

i mean its better than me, but im disgusted he has some missing that i love too much. not his fault i guess. its alright considering he isnt really that big of an intellectual

I think youre mostly aspie and hadnt heard of Dante 6 months ago

Some individual selections are questionable, but they mix nicely with the deep cuts (how many people in this thread have actually read Alberto Denti di Pirajno?)

In the end, the Guardian shit-lit and rock histories, when considered alongside the modernist obscurities and Flaubert, fit a general Bowie aesthetic that's deeply sincere, eclectic, and totally unique to his personality. A great list

For comparison, I'll post Barthelme's recommended books

...

...

>no James Joyce
>no Marcel Proust
>no William Blake

Surprise, surprise, the commercial success lacks any knowledge of true art

>The 42nd Parallel by John Dos Passos

do bongs appreciate Dos Passos more than burgers?

has anyone here even read 100 books

Pretty heavily skewed towards english and american authors with basically Veeky Forums starter pack writers like Mishima added in. I mean how can you not have read for example Kazantzakis?

>Bowie doesn’t know The Last Temptation of Christ author
Is that the joke? That he played Pilate in the movie version?

>ever watching the movie

If he knows him and doesn't recommend him, that's even more pleb

Most autistic thread I've seen in a while

BASED BOWIE
