What's his best work other than Lolita, Pale Fire and Ada?

What's his best work other than Lolita, Pale Fire and Ada?

Bemp

The Gift

Pnin is probably his most enjoyable work.

retard

my god, but that was so terrible.
>muh bowl

invitation to a beheading

its like kafka, but actually good

>plagiarism is genius guyz!
you're guzzling nabokov's balls more than he guzzled his uncle's.

His poetry was excellent

What didn't you like about it? Just the subject matter?

Was it really?

What if the plagiarist does a better job than the original

he's still a plagiarist. too bad he doesn't even have the advantage of doing a better job in this instance.

The Gift
The Defense
Speak, Memory

you need to go back

Everyone after the Greeks are plagiarists tbqh

sure bud. and taylor swift is plagiarizing Marin Marais.

Anyone else not really like Ada? The prose was top notch of course but the story was really boring and that attempt at a pseudo philosophy chapter which seemingly the book was working toward sucked. Ada and Van and their snobby quips got annoying after a while and I'm not sure if I was supposed to dislike them or not.

If we are talking about music I'm sure I could find some of her chord progressions in much earlier compositions.

Laughter in the Dark is a great way to get into his earlier (ie Russian) novels, which have their own kind of magic, having been written by a then-literally-who wandering Russian émigré rather than the glossy superstar novelist that was post-Lolita Nabokov.

also these lmao I can't imagine not liking Kafka, especially if you like Nabokov

you were supposed to hate them

This might be most retarded thing I've read on this board in the last two months

that chapter was sick

Pnin is my personal favorite although I've only read five of his novels.

Invitation to a Beheading is great. Kafka is also great.

>The Defense
I have heard from friends this one is very good and it will be my next Nabokov.

>it's like kafka
Only superficially.
>but actually good
They're both good.

I've loved every other Nabokov book I've read but I can't get past 20 pages of Ada, it's so boring.
