Some mutations develop because of selective pressure that is present in all of Africa, like sickle cell anemia. And while it's true that Africans are genetically very diverse, they still form a distinct genetic cluster.

African Americans are a different deal, not so much because they all come from the Western part of Africa, but more because they have 25% European admixture on average.

This is both its strength and weakness, because while it doesn't have as thorough as a philosophical basis as communism or anarchism, it can instead be far more pragmatic and realize political success much more easily.
