Why all the hate?

Why all the hate?

He's a fat commie jew that wanted to pathologise Christian civilization.

Adorno wanted to destroy western civilization and turn all white men into trannies through ZOG forcefem propaganda.

butthurt over ww2

libs hate him because he exposed contemporary "art"

lmao he praised christianity

imagine living in a badass era but all you care about is holocoust and being jelly that heidegger has more fans.

right hates him because he's a commie
left hates him because he wasn't a commie

true dat

Speaking as someone on the right side of the fence, I've found Adorno's works to be quite an enjoyable. I don't imagine I'll be bothering with Negative Dialectics any time soon but Minima Moralia was a pleasing read with many poignant observations. I don't understand why he is often cited as some crazed commie who wanted to subvert the West.

modern leftists are just edgy neoliberals who read nothing but Harry Potter, Ta Neshi Coates and Bell Hooks. The far right is the actual heir to the legacy of the Frankfurt School, Marx and Foucault

That's because the people who do so have never read Adorno. I'm far right myself and i fucking hate both the Frankfurt conspiracy theory and the term "cultural marxism". I think the new scapegoat of postmodernism is closer to the truth, but it's still too nebulous.

Adorno could easily be read as an unusual conservative, and many on the left did indeed accuse him of conservatism. He wouldn't have stood for modern day identity politics either, but would probably have dismissed these things as bourgeoise distractions.

he's wrong about jazz

...

This. Marcuse was a faggot though

I agree with that.

I'm a leftist and I kinda hate Adorno because he was too much of a brainlet and a beta with a thirst for power, and ended fucking Benjamin's career up because of that. Also, if the possibility of going to the US hadn't showed up I believe Benjamin would have fucked off to south America sooner and would have escaped the nazis, so there's also that.

Everytime I remember Benjamin was judged by second rate intellectuals like Adorno and Panofsky I get a little sick, tbqh
The man is extremely difficult and obtuse in his writing, but I keep rereading them and whenever I grasp something new it's like acquiring cognoscene again. It's almost like a religious experience.

like when he felt threatened by gaugin paintings?

I've been looking to get into Benjamin (no homo), in particular his work on the aesthetics of politics. Where should i start?

I didn't even knew about this but once again, but this makes me like him all the more, since I'm not into Gaugin anyway, one of my least favourite modernist painters.

Critique of Violence - Critique of Power, The Aesthetization of Politics, Theories on German Fascism and Capitalism as A Religion are a good entry point, I guess. I'm not sure about those names though, since they're my own retranslations to english.

you must be j*wish

>One room has twenty-nine Gauguins crammed on its walls. (I once again came to the realization - inasmuch as this term is applicable to my rapid sampling of this great collection - that Gauguin's paintings seem hostile to me, directing all the hate against me that a non-Jew can feel toward Jews.) [Moscow Diary]

No, I'm not, I'm just into more constrained colors, really.

Gauguin hated Jews?I know Degas did.

>I'm far right myself

opinion discarded

They thaven't heard of Gramsci yet.

These people are cucks and brainlets.

Jazz fans are dumb and easily driven to anger.

You ever actually sit down and read this thing?
Technically even going to the bathroom is fascism.

you should read Dialectic of Englightenment, or at least the essay, Culture Industry user, I think in light of what is happening to our culture right now it is something anyone on the Right (or Left) should be familiar with. Adorno was not an evil person, nor did he hate whites but he was paranoid and too judaic for his own good, the little imp, but you can't really blame him since he witnessed the entirety of WW2 and saw what happens when you let lunatic politics run wild in Germany

>we must build another Auschwitz to prevent the next Auschwitz. It's the only way to be sure.
>also, stop writing poetry

What did he mean by this?

It's not that simple; Frankfurt School critical theory and Foucault's theory of knowledge and power (albeit watered down and misunderstood) has enabled a whole slew of CRT and post-colonial trash in academia. You're right in that cultural marxism is a meme, doesn't mean they weren't a bunch of degenerate Jews. Foucault, Adorno and Horkheimer are good reading though.

He's cool.
Marcuse is truly a fag tho.

Now that I think about it, he doesn't really fit anywhere in contemporary politics. The left sees him as a eurocentric classicist reactionary, and the right sees him as cultural Marxist scheming to undermine the west.

That's because "contemporary politics" is meaningless bullshit proliferated by mass media under market pressures.

Yes and no user, it's real in the eyes of those who believe it. I encourage you to look into the dead eyes of the politically brainwashed.

it's entirely because he's kinda funny looking

You mean (((funny looking)))

dead meme

because adorno is a bastard man!

>modern leftists are just edgy neoliberals who read nothing but Harry Potter, Ta Neshi Coates and Bell Hooks.

This part is true tho.

Gramsci isen't even this big deal.
And he ain't so full of shit like people like to paint.

I dare anyone to demonstrate how Adorno and Horkheimer were wrong in any way in the culture industry.

If the essay had been written by Ebola, reactionaries would worship it.

They can't be right or wrong because they only wrote meaningless gibberish.

Why do you say that? He proposed exactally what anti-adornians are criticizing now: Marxism through cultural domination.

>modern leftism isn't even anti-capitalism or revolutionary it's just capitalism but browner
>can't respect my ideological enemies because they've thrown away everything that made them redeemable

lol

his ideas about musical are moronic for someone so knowledgeable about music

fucking typo. i'm not a brainlet, i swear.

>Marcuse
I had a prof who was a student of Marcuse. It was an entry level poli phil course and he was probably the coolest prof I ever had. He was a hardcore lefty but a little delusional in that he believed I was also a hardcore lefty (when I'm totally reactionary lol). I was deliberately vague about my views, but still I wrote a short essay on Marx that I thought obviously gave me away, but he still thinks I'm left wing. End blog.

he believed, correctly so, that riffing like a lunatic high on drugs wasn’t art. there is a 1:1 correlation between being a pseud faggot who denies biology and loving Jazz man

>being a pseud faggot who denies biology

Being a musical tradfag itself betrays an ignorance of biology and the history of music overall. Adorno can get a bit of a pass because the neuroscience wasn't as developed then, but even all that bullshit aside, his judgments about the intentions of musicians and how musical ideas develop as people compose and reinterpret them is analogous to reading a virgin explain how to have sex. I'm all for arguing for personal taste on intellectual grounds, but he just doesn't know what he's talking about, which is odd for someone who had a good grasp of music theory.

>i only read things from people i agree with

>mfw the far right is unknowingly bringing about socialist world revolution closer by agitating the contradictions of capitalism towards global class consciousness

He wasn't talking about art jazz you retarded fag

imagine if we had good threads

>mfw venezuelans hunting rats to survive is enough to settle any agitations

He was against mass culture so I’m with him.

what anime is this?

>National SOCIALISM
