Convince me that he is.

He's not a top of the barrel guy but that doesn't make him a hack.

>dude war is bad lmao

a soyboy before we had an expression for such a thing

Harrison Bergeron predicted the shitstorm we live in today.

I remember the descriptions of Dresden in SH5 were well-done and moving, and Cat's Cradle was funny.
He's pretty readable but I don't think he's a man to build your Weltanschauung on.

I don't know but he did a solid talk on Finnegan's Wake

He's funny and is a good introduction to literary fiction for young people. Wouldn't call him a genius but there's no reason to call him a hack.
Harrison Bergeron was a satirical take on how socialism was perceived and brainlet libertarians decided to co-opt it for their muh freedums bullshit. If you think comparing it to the current social landscape is in any way meaningful then you're even dumber than those types.

which wars have you fought in?

>someone who actually fought in a war says war it's bad
>"fucking soyboy" lmao

The absolute state of this board.

He's not a major writer or a genius but that doesn't automatically make him a hack.

You goddamn know it's a troll thread. I'm just here to see people shit on an author I like because schadenfreude feels cleansing.

you dumb honky that's vonnegut not mckenna

that's mckenna not vonnegut.

do you think it's funny to take what people say and invert it? OMG KEK. now fuck off

what a faggy response kek but ok.

He's definitely not a revolutionary prose stylist, and his themes are fairly simple, but he's a very inventive storyteller and I appreciate his takes on a lot of things. He also manages to use satire in both a relevant and funny way without climbing up his own ass into pretentious irony like about every other self proclaimed satirist.

Overall I think he's just a genuinely kind guy who's good at telling stories and wanted to put some simple fun stories out into the world to encourage people to act a little better. That's respectable imo, even if it doesn't make him a groundbreaking artist.

He writes romance novels for edgy teen boys. I liked The Sirens of Titan and Breakfast of Champions during that phase.

>a war veteran who emerged from a meat locker during a bombing to find ruin and death strewn all around him
>”lol he’s a soyboy”

Cmon bro

He was in Back to School with rodney.

He's not Harlan Ellison

This. At his best he makes you laugh while at the same time feeling deep sympathy with even the most fucked up of his characters. His prose is simple on purpose. Hes not aiming for any arty-farty acclaim. He aims for your feels and your laughs, and he does a very good job at that. Sirens of Titan is the overlooked materpiece. Screw slaughterhouse 5

You failed to convince me to.

What do you call a 'man' who fails to kill himself -- and brags about it -- t h r e e t i m e s ?
>OP (or faggot, so it goes)

He's fine. Beyond Slaughterhouse 5 it's whether the taste of his worldview's cum is savory or not.
