Where do I start with Robert Anton Wilson?
Is he worth reading at all?

Im reading prometheus rising, its very.. unconventional, plebby may i say..

...

yea. "unconventional" covers it pretty well.
I'll put it this way, he's got the references. He's not talking out of his ass, that much is made clear. He bases his texts on the works of greater men than he (by his own account).
What you should know going in is that he's a product of his time. The sensibilities of the 70's have aged pretty poorly (like the mustaches and the fashion), but the insights of 60's counterculture that they were working from have remained pretty powerful ( like the music and films ).
Prometheus Rising is about Leary's 8-circuit model of the brain, but far from an academic text, it actually (somehow) quite hand-on. If you're interested in psychology or self-knowledge at all I recommend it on that basis alone.

that book is so fucking bad, really regret buying that crap.

what was bad about it?
Is the Illuminatus trilogy worth reading?

It's pornographic, Anarchist trash.

keep in mind it was written in the sixties and seventies, when the world did not have the benefit of a global internet that let teenagers be edgy in real-time.

OP: the Illuminatus! trilogy, the Schrodinger's Cat trilogy, the Historical Illuminatus trilogy even though it ends on a fucking cliffhanger and he died before writing another book, and "Masks of the Illuminati", because James Joyce and Albert Einstein teaming up to confront Aleister Crowley.

ignore him, he's an edgelord, and he only faps to Palahniuk. in particular, "Guts".

not unless you want to end up like him

>Hands-on
Maybe some of it. The vast majority of the exercises he suggests are nearly impossible to complete in reasonable amount of time, and he doesn't make a very convincing case for investing your time in them either.

Also they are exercises of mere awareness. It all has this "now what" quality

> in reasonable amount of time
Are you in a hurry to reach your deeper self? This is the first thing you need to let go of.
> he doesn't make a very convincing case for investing your time
Make a convincing case that blue is the most beautiful color to Mary who lives in the Black-and-White Room.
Experiential truths cannot be conveyed by words no matter how sharp the author's words.

You seem to have a real thing with time. That's a huge waste of time, imo.

>Pornographic
>Anarchist

bump

Just your run of the mill bullshit occultism. Some ugly bald guy convincing himself he's something more than that by playing pretend.

oh, you didn't even read it, ok

this expected much more from him, turns out it's some shitty new agy bullshit and stupid """exercises"""

Reading thru Cosmic Trigger right now and its pretty cringe. will not read another book by him

he died happy and respected in his field. unlike, say, Crowley, who died addicted to morphine, penniless, in a cheap hotel, trying to eat his one hard boiled egg a day with the teeth he'd filed down when he was younger.

>mere awareness

On another note, is Christopher Hyatt's Undoing Yourself better for self-deprogramming than Prometheus Rising?

>tfw left wing stoner
>read prometheus rising
>says to try and unironically change your perspective
>become a hu'white advocate/monarchist

his book works desu. I find quarters everywhere. 23 skidoo is the most powerful cryptocurrency.

illuminatus! trilogy is his best imo

>his book works desu
what else did work besides your political conversion.

Damn quarter thing didn't work. Tried visualizing picking a quarter off the ground and I've yet to find one.

it's possible you're causing them to disappear?

Visualize whole dollars then. Maybe youre not made for cheap shit.

that milo yanopoporopoulos is such a HANDSOME young man, isn't he?

you live in england, right? try visualizing muslims instead.

he´s the smartest craziest guy out there, if you know what i mean

maybe logic is a great documentary on him

good music selection too
