why are the bishop and king swapped?

It's Fischer 960 chess. Every game is randomized on the back row so you can't just memorize opening lines to gain big advantages early on. There are 960 possible variations, hence the name.

Never heard of it. Really interesting, thanks

Thanks Trevor

Oh man you just brought some great memories back to me.
Thanks, user.

Who's Trevor?

The guy that posted that stuff from Reddit

>tfw I want to be good at chess but I'm not russian or jewish

You don't have to be good to have fun with chess. I started at 30 years old so I play like a retard and regularly get beat by children but its still worth it.

Pretty sure China is at the top nowadays.

I used to be good at chess, but success at chess really depends on your mindset. Every game I played to win. I had this seemingly infinite well of mental energy, and would play to the end no matter what the situation was. I never once experienced fatigue.

Now I'm 27 and don't have the mental energy to see things through anymore. So my advice, is be young and stick with it.

Take a look at this faggot

How are the Tom Clancy novels?

I stopped playing chess after I got pissed off from losing a match and kicked a hole in a door

Sillman's Complete Book of Chess Strategy gives an excellent overview.

Why do people keep saying this?

9/100 are Chinese, and there's no Chinese player in the top 10. Meanwhile 22/100 are Russian, and the third best player is Russian.

Oh shit. I'm a mere 1900 pleb in your NM presence. I own both of those books, but haven't started either. I haven't played a serious game of chess in over a year now, but I do intend to get back into it and get NM at some point in my life.

My name Artour Babaev. Sorry bad englandsky. I grow up in small farm to have make potatos. Father say "Arthour, potato harvest is bad. Need you to have play professional DOTO2 in Amerikanski for make money for head-scarf for babushka." I bring honor to komrade and babushka. Plz no copy pasteschniko

Download Lucas Chess and play. Under the compete menu you'll find a submenu called "Elo-Rating," then select "Lucas-Elo." Start with the lowest difficulty and work your way up.
