a man with cancer has sex with a man with AIDS and their baby has blood that cancels them both out and can be used as research for a cure except the baby may have to be sacrificed to save the world :(

Im working on an idea and its been changing slowly:

>depressed alcholic NEET plans suicide
>before suicide sees advertisement about new controversial medication that is supposed to get rid of sadness/depression
>signs up
>gets meds
>slowly loses grip on reality
>weird side effects start manifesting themselves in his mind

Thats all I got so far lol. He also has a father with his own side plot.

I got a couple:

1.
>A meteor is discovered heading for earth
>Humanity has 10 years left to live
>The world's nations put their greatest minds together to come up with plans to divert the meteor
>Over the years all attempts fail
>A couple years before impact it is announced there is nothing that can be done to stop or divert it
>It will 100% destroy the Earth
>Initial sadness and chaos, but humanity eventually comes to terms with its mortality
>The night of impact people get together and celebrate their life and coming death as a sense of acceptance sweeps over everyone
>By some random miracle the meteor actually misses the Earth
>Initial joy fades to melancholy as people realize they actually have to continue living their lives after they collectively accepted death

I think most of the novel would take place after this point with characters dealing with the notion that there will be a future and having to come to terms with what their future will be. The sci-fi meteor stuff would give way to character drama. I'd probably focus on a family in this case. The husband and wife have to go back to work on Monday. They have to deal with problems they thought would go away since the world was going to end. They have to prepare their child for a life much longer than was expected. They waited too long to have a second child because they didn't want to raise it in a world with a countdown to apocalypse. Just that kind of shit.

>Finds a militant radical in a bar one evening
>Radial believes in destroying the machines, releasing the dead from the collective digital consciousness, and bringing back a Japan ruled again by people and traditional values
>Protagonist gets wrapped up in the extremist group and becomes infatuated with its leader
>Gets recruited to undertake a terrorist bombing of the hard drives at the company he works for
>As the date gets closer he gets cold feet
>Becomes disillusioned with the militant leader once he learns about his depressing life
>Meets a girl or something
>Decides against the bombing at the last second and leaves the group
>The bombing happens anyways
>By the next morning the machines have already repaired all the damage
>All the hard drives had dozens of backups
>The authorities don't even care enough to hunt for the culprits
>Leader kills himself by seppeku once his movement collapses and his plans have utterly failed
>Protagonist goes with love interest to live off the land in a remote village in Hokkaido
>Lives in peace for a short time but the emptiness he feels returns
>Ends with him laying in a river staring at the sky as he feels depression grip him again

I wanted to envision a world ruled by machines that don't hate us but mostly treat us like their elderly parents; they want us to be happy and to maintain independence even though they can do literally everything better than us. If the protagonist didn't go to work it would be fine because a machine would do his job for him and better. I want to explore the consequences of this utopia, but also make a statement that the main character's depression and feelings of nihilism and loneliness are less caused by his environment and more by what's inside of him, hence the retreat into nature failing to solve his problems. Sure, he lives in a boring, sad world, but he has to do serious work to fix himself if he wants to be better. You can't solve your problems by running away to live on a farm.

>a detective has work on the case, and reads the 100's of letters written by her and can oddly relate
>detective ends up falling in love with her
>chapters alternate between being told by the two characters
>the twist is that they're actually the SAME PERSON. he/she has a split personality disorder.
>the detective has to try and kill himself before any more killings can happen but his alter ego keeps trying to stop him

maybe there can be this chase sequence near the climax. the detective in his car and the murderer on a horse. new vs old.

>The man and son are sent on a mission to stop an arms deal in early 90's Shanghai
>The mission is a sting to kill the father character as revenge for putting a triad leader in jail years before
>Father is killed by a legendary assassin
>Son hunts for the mole in the Shanghai police
>Kills a fellow officer under suspicion of this
>Leaves his family and life behind to travel to Hong Kong to immerse himself in the triads to hunt for this guy
>Years later, in modern day, he is told the assassin lives in a small town in Alaska
>This town is known as a "retirement community" for old triad leaders who choose to live a simple life there rather than stay in China and be killed/replaced
>Character goes to Alaksa and befriends a young woman he lives next to
>She's black and grew up poor in Los Angeles
>Her father committed suicide due to depression/PTSD
>She is raised in poverty by her grandmother and older brother
>Her older brother is a continual fuckup and gets put in prison when the girl is a child
>Her grandmother dies soon after and she is fostered out
>She excels in school despite it all
>Graduates from college, can work remotely for her job, decides to live in Alaska just to get away from it all
>She helps the Chinese man hunt for the assassin
>They all get wrapped up in Traid shit in this town as the FBI gets involved
>Bunch of twists and turns happen
>Towards the end her brother gets out of jail and she goes to live with him
>He seems promising at first but is still a fuck up
>He gets sent back to jail after doing some bad shit
>She returns to Alaska to be with the Chinese guy
>He tells her he heard a rumor the assassin has moved on due to the FBI investigations and he has to go hunt this guy
>She begs him to stay and make a life here and that she needs him since she has been abandoned by everyone else in her life
>He cannot; he lives for the hunt and cannot give up his obsession
>Hunting the assassin is literally the only reason this character has to live
>It becomes evident this assassin may or may not even be real

I wanted to write a story exploring the dark pasts of both China and the United States and how two characters experiencing these pasts could come to care for one another. But they're both deeply damaged people and cannot provide the comfort they need. No matter what she is attracted towards people who hurt her, and no matter what the Chinese man will abandon his life to continue his fruitless hunt.
