9/10 would swap out Dumas for some Joyce or Proust

Ah yes the: "i swear i'm still a virgin VOLUNTARILY" stack
Anna Karenina is nice though

Needs at least one more Tolstoy.

You should get banned

It’s not complete without one reactionary or mystic.

And at least one less Dostoyevsky.

Not bad, including the Dumas (he's fun). But why do you have the NRSV twice?

Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo is unironically great. Best revenge tale ever written.

>the only one with a marker is the one that’s less than 100 pages
lmaoing at your face OP

Is this your personal stack of books you’ve never read?

Just got this stack from cleaning out my grandmother's house. Which should I read first? Walden is the only one I've already read.

>Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Kino

You have to read Blade: it's James Bond meets Tarzan/Conan/John Carter. This alpha male spy gets transported naked into random dimensions in each book, and kills and fucks everything until he gets zapped back. The complete Richard Blade series (1969-84). Adult violent/sexy fantasy junk extraordinaire! Completely shameless manly pulp on every level, like most of the series characters created to get young men to buy fiction: John Carter, Conan, Tarzan, Ka-Zar, The Shadow, Doc Savage, Mike Shayne, Shell Scott, Travis McGee, Remo Williams (The Destroyer), Mack Bolan (The Executioner, and its spin-off series, Phoenix Force), Richard Camelion (The Death Merchant), and Nick Carter (from Master Detective to Killmaster), etc.

Step aside, peasants

Why do you guys take pictures of your books and post them here?

...

Oh look it's le 4chin seat guy

kys

Wew, this one is spicy

nigga pls

Because the whole point of this board is to discuss books?

And when does the discussion start? All I see are carefully orchestrated pictures.

...

>Meditations
I believe that is the one where he used the word "accretion" so many times that I found myself in suspense wondering how he would apply the word next. It was like spending the day with a baby that just learned a new word.

I would save the Epictetus but I would double up on disposal of Meditations. Burn that fucker. You do not want a hobo pulling it out of the trash.

>And when does the discussion start? All I see are carefully orchestrated pictures.
Lead by example.

So you admit there is no discussion in this thread where people are posting pictures of their books. Then my question stands. Why do you guys do it?

How's that translation of Nights, by the way?

I was poster so, though my contribution was shit, I did contribute. You do not appear to be doing anything but complaining - and causing your purportedly hated thread to get bumped.

Wow what's your problem. We like showing each other our book collections and seeing what other anons are reading. What's wrong with this.

At this point all I've done is ask a question. You're reaction is more telling than anything. You're obviously insecure about it. The truth is you're no better than teenage Facebook or Instagram girls spending their nights carefully arranging selfies for attention. That makes you the worst sort of loser.

Rate my shitty stack.

>That makes you the worst sort of loser.
Flattery will get you dick pics.

>you're losers for sharing literature on the literature board

Walden gets a bad rap. To truly appreciate it you need to read it to see Thoreau's personal failures. That is where I found half of its worth.

You're a loser for fetishizing books rather than reading them. All you are is a consumer.

>To truly appreciate it you need to read it to see Thoreau's personal failure as a writer
fixed

Why are you assuming I don't read the books I've posted?

What personal failures?

Because you're not talking about them or analyzing them. All you're doing is posting pictures of the physical product because they're like trophies for you.

Firstly, there is discussion in this thread. I had never heard of the Blade books, now I have. Here are some opinions on Dumas and in general there are anons saying in a humorous way what books they favour.

But more importantly you may have noticed that Veeky Forums is an imageboard i.e. a forum geared towards the posting of images to compliment and drive discussion. To deride the posting of images of physical literature on the literature board effectively strips the mask of your pretension to reveal what lies beneath: the most base and lowly character to disfigure the pure nature of our beloved internet community since Tao Lin last went to sleep.

I read it twice on account of this - with a spread of a couple of years. The text was littered with examples and I only retain a few of them in memory along with the general gist. Here is a disorganized stew of a few: He makes a big talk about the axe head and how it should be shared with no analysis of production of the axe head by specialists. Again, a big talk about the virtue of vegetarianism without consideration of the differences of a lifelong vegetarian diet versus an adult transitioning to a vegetarian diet. (He does mitigate this with an acknowledgement that everyone has the need to kill something significant during their lifetime.) He makes a mockery of physiology comparing oxen to humans. He made no accommodation for getting laid and the whole thing looked like what it was - a temporary experiment from which he would walk away. These are what I remember but there were dozens of observations that I made at the time. I do not entirely disagree with . Some of his value is found in him being an average fuck with related foibles and ignorance.

I botched my CTRL+C and (You)d myself. I meant to agree with the correction
>To truly appreciate it you need to read it to see Thoreau's personal failure as a writer
from

If this is just an image board and there's nothing wrong with posting of books then why are you trying so hard to convince me that there's meaningful discussion taking place? The truth is I don't care if any discussion takes place. It doesn't matter to me and it doesn't answer my original question of why you take the time to carefully orchestrate a stack of books and take pictures of them to post on the internet. I've postulated that you're just a consumerist attention whore and you haven't even tried to deny it. All you've done is pretend there was something more to it.
