I think Maeterlinck's Life of the Bee an excellent work worth your while.

Apart from beekeeping manuals i don't know any. I've been wanting to write a fiction book about bees though.

Btw, that's a wasp in your pic.

In the opening paragraphs of Life of the Bee Maeterlinck recommends in handful of languages the most important technical volumes on bees and beekeeping. I now recommend it to you as well.

It's not bees, but it's close enough and an excellent book.

That's actually a hornet

German writer Waldemar Bonsels has actually written an book about the life of a honeybee - "Die Biene Maja" in German, "The Adventures of Maya the Bee" in English. It used to be (and still is) a very famous children's book in Germany. It has inspired a series of comic books and two TV series. It's available for free on gutenberg.org.

The Wasp Factory

Archbishop of Canterbury: Therefore doth heaven divide
The state of man in divers functions, 330
Setting endeavour in continual motion;
To which is fixed, as an aim or butt,
Obedience: for so work the honey-bees,
Creatures that by a rule in nature teach
The act of order to a peopled kingdom. 335
They have a king and officers of sorts;
Where some, like magistrates, correct at home,
Others, like merchants, venture trade abroad,
Others, like soldiers, armed in their stings,
Make boot upon the summer's velvet buds, 340
Which pillage they with merry march bring home
To the tent-royal of their emperor;
Who, busied in his majesty, surveys
The singing masons building roofs of gold,
The civil citizens kneading up the honey, 345
The poor mechanic porters crowding in
Their heavy burdens at his narrow gate,
The sad-eyed justice, with his surly hum,
Delivering o'er to executors pale
The lazy yawning drone.

>anything by Jordan Bee Peterson

Hey thanks I'm in the process of learning German and will try this. Recently read ''etwas von den wurzelkindern,' another good children's book, although much shorter, but actually has some bees in it.
