Can we get a biography suggestion thread...

Can we get a biography suggestion thread? What are the best biographies both in terms of being well-written and the person's life being fascinating? I'm looking for a good bio of Alexander the Great. Open to any other bio suggestions as well.

Can't help with Alexander, but I'll drop anything I can here.
>Caesar: Life of a Colossus by Adrian Goldsworthy
>Taylor Branch's three-part series on MLK Jr.
>Autobiography of Malcolm X

autiobiography of malcolm x is fake as hell, if u want a real biography of him read the one by manning marable

Remembering the biographies I've read as they come to me. Some of these it's been a few years.
>Reagan: The Life by H.W. Brands
>Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama by David Garrow
>Eyes of Willie McGee by Alex Heard
>Bearing the Cross: Life of MLK by David Garrow
>No Ordinary Time: FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt by Doris Kearns Goodwin

Might be true, but almost everyone who's read it enjoys it.

The Anabasis of Alexander by Arrian is superb
fuck off fucking nigger

that long ass three part series about lyndon johnson makes a pretty comfy audiobook if u in the mood for some 60s nostolgia

>Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York by Robert Caro
>Caro's ongoing series on LBJ
>Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson
>The Story of My Experiments with Truth by Gandhi
>The Last Lion: Winston Churchill by William Manchester

>>Power Broker: Robert Moses and the Fall of New York by Robert Caro
>>Caro's ongoing series on LBJ
>>Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson

idk about the other ones but these are certified dank af

You browse Veeky Forums and think you're a patrician because you read one biography of Alexander. You have very few people in your life who love you because you're subhuman trash. If you died, nothing would change. Now you come here to be pretentious and pretend you're superior to two people who contributed more to humanity than you ever will. kys.

bro if i u into caro's shit u gotta cop this short piece by him called "on power" or something that i think was an audible exclusive, it's like an autobiography of his career, and some commentary on the powerbrokers of the tristate

>An Unfinished Life: JFK by Robert Dallek
>Robert Kennedy and His Times by Schlesinger (obviously biased but good nonetheless; just have a critical eye if you read it)
>Bush by Jean Edward Smith. (that's Dubya).
>Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin. It's classic.

I'll check it out for sure!

"For All the Tea in China" by Sarah Rose is a good one about how a Scottish botanist named Robert Fortune traveled to China in the 1800s and posed as a Mandarin to steal the secret of tea production for the British.

Conquest and Empire: The Reign of Alexander the Great - considered the best scholarly work on Alexander

Besides that, Arrian (Anabasis and Indica) and Plutarch wrote great books about him.

Napoleon the Great by Roberts.

It's biased as fuck, the author literally states that a world where Napoleon won would be a better one, but the scholarly work behind it is solid (to my untrained eye, at least) and the prose is gripping.

Anything about Bismarck and Talleyrand really. The world wouldn't be where it is today without those two men respectively.

All of these are worth reading .

Not in any order, nor have I read them all—obviously.
