Carnivale is basically a magic realism novel when you think about it crossed with a lot of Steinbeck themes.

I'll check it out, thanks user. I like me some Steinbeck.

The only downside is that HBO cancelled it and any moral ambiguity is kind of thrown out of the window for the two main characters.

TD haunts me to this day

Il Gattopardo.
The name of the Rose.

Riget

Penny Dreadful had a couple of characters who were into English romantic and Victorian poetry.
And Eva Green got nude.

>ended in 2005
damn, I was a preteen then. Had probably only read Of Mice and Men at that age
TD?
The Name of the Rose is excellent, good taste
Never heard of it, care to elaborate?

will be adding this to my list for research purposes

NOT
FUCKING
LITERATURE

>>/tv/

go back to shitting up poetry critique threads, queer

GET THE FUCK OFF MY BOARD

THIS BOARD IS FOR BOOKS

NOT PHILOSOPHY
NOT MOVIES
NOT JORDAN PETERSON
NOT ADVICE TO STOP YOU KILLING YOURSELF

IT
IS
ABOUT
BOOKS
AND
THE
PEOPLE
WHO
WRITE
THEM

THERE IS NO POWER IN HEAVEN OR ON EARTH THAT CAN ERASE THIS WRIT, AND THERE IS NO TURN OF PHRASE OR SLEIGHT OF HAND THAT YOU CAN USE OR MISUSE TO MAKE SO THAT WHICH IS NOT.

THUS IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF moot AND THUS SHALL IT EVER BE.

>guilty pleasure

hate this phrase

stop feeling guilty for liking things because your swpl middlebrow friends might make fun of you and have some self condifence

>NOT PHILOSOPHY
But philosophy works are literature

I'm ashamed of liking something produced by the BBC, not because of the content

Philosophy is not.

Discussion of philosophy should be curtailed on Veeky Forums until it consists purely of contrasting the thoughts of various philosophers using exclusively excerpts from their texts.

No joke.

I fucking hate that half of Veeky Forums at any given time is "I think that... about philosophy."

That's not fucking literature. Your thoughts on anything, unless they are fucking written down, are not literature - and thus don't belong here. With the SOLE EXCEPTION of your thoughts ABOUT LITERATURE. Which philosophy is not.

did you forget to take your seroquel this morning? calm the fuck down

No, but I had an argument with my boyfriend.

Quick, let's talk more about that instead of fucking books.

is Father Brown that fucking day-time TV drama for old people like Doctors

It's shit

What kind of sterile discussion are you even trying to promote ?
Everyone should talk only by quoting a book sentence ? Are you for real ?

What's wrong with cozy village murder mysteries? Way better than 2 hour long David "I'M ACTING" Suchet's Poirot.

Yes I fucking am.

I am trying to promote discussion ABOUT BOOKS.

BECAUSE THIS IS A LITERATURE BOARD.

NOT A PHILOSOPHY BOARD.

IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT PHILOSOPHY, FUCK OFF.

IF YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT A BOOK ABOUT PHILOSOPHY I VERY MUCH EXPECT YOU'LL NEED TO REFER TO THE TEXT.

they're both shit. daytime bbc is fucking shit, man

I bet you don't even do it .
Provide an exemple at least of a worthy discussion at least you spastic.

Also fix this caps lock bullshit, you look silly.

>daytime BBC is fucking shit, man
I agree, but I'm a goblino without access to that on television. It's just a show I like that happens to be produced by the BBC but I find it to be leagues better than anything else they produce

>Provide an exemple at least of a worthy discussion at least you spastic.
I think that Bob would disagree with Joan's views on fucking babies, because on pg. 7 of Bob's work "Don't Fuck Babies" he says
>and yea verily it seemeth to me that the fuckething of babies be most unseemly

Don't you have better things to do? Go find another fucking Cormac McCarthy thread
