Every time I see this term used I can't help but think that the person is projecting since they're implying they're intellectual by omission. What kind of intellectual ever describes themselves as one?

I don't agree with everything he says, in fact some of his stuff is a little off-putting, but he seems rather smart and does a good job of arguing his positions.

Got me to think a lot more about how I go about examining the sources cited for news/history I'm studying up on. I agree with him on some things, on others I feel he allows his zealous moral conviction to takehold of the conversation and steer it in a completely different direction.
