*No Stormfags plz* Mussolini Thread

Relatively, looking at other Italian Prime Ministers, was Mussolini really that bad?

if only mussolini hadn't invaded greece, taking hitler's attention away from the soviet union in the summer and tying his army up for precious warm months... oh how i lament the loss of all that could have been.

Why did Mussolini invade Greece? Surely there must have a geopolitical reason behind it that was detrimental to the war effort.

Are you autistic? You can't have a New Roman Empire without Greece, That's like well...Greece without Debt

Mussolini was the reason Hitler lost.

But that seems like a completely nonsensical thing to do when you're at war with the largest power on earth. Did the king of Greece sign a deal or support the allies. In Yugoslavia the monarchy supported the axis but there was a coup which at least excuses Germany and friends for invading it... a little.

Greece would have fallen to the commies so the fascists were ideologically motivated to intervene

It would have been better if Italy stayed neutral, For everyone... Wel maybe not the jews

Some of his economic battles and public works were alright the good being his handling of the Great Depression the bad being his retarded agricultural policy that tore up olive and grape crops to produce more grain which harmed the south.

He talked totalitarian yet never even came close to it . Failed to modernise his his military as well

The King in Greece, irc Was always supportive of the British, also it was conductive to controlling the Mediterranean to cut off British supplies through North Egypt?

Yeah, that was truely a mistake, Of course that is what happens when you put a school teacher in charge of the economy.

Fuck you all, there wouldn't have been nothing in Germany without Italian Fascism; only a bunch of communists.
Mussolini created the most perfect political system in which people don't get angry on classes; they were just happy to work together, building the greatest civilization they could.

The military has to be taken apart of it, and we all know that, he got involved in Hitler's shit

> which people don't get angry on classes; they were just happy to work together, building the greatest civilization they could.
They were brainwashed and forced to it.

Mussolini was persuing parallel war to counterbalance Germany at the time/.

Metaxas, the dictator of Greece during that time was more supportive of axis rather than the opposing side. When Musollini however requested to have Greece given to Italy, Metaxas declined with a big fat OXI and then shit happened.

Translator's note: Οχι stands for no

Without the Italians and of course the Germans the Austrians would have won the war!

mussolini wanted to make italy at least look like a great power to deal on equal terms with the actual great powers like germany, uk etc.

Italy at the time wasn't a great power at all, its industrial capability was laughable and couldn't really support war efforts (italy ran out of oil after 1 year of war)

He didn't really expect to get involved in a long, world-scale war

As far as the national socialist ideals musso was the worst

If only this meme would die, oh how I lament the repetitiveness of this board.

Italy was a great power though. They had the ability to project power from the Med to the Indian Ocean, and had significant colonies

You could say the same of the Netherlands tho. Italy just did not have the industrial capacity (nor the resources to develop it) to compete with France, Uk and Germany.

>Brainwashed
According to you and other leftists, eveyone in every society in brainwashed.
Although, I don't care how the poors are used, the most important is to build an aere monumentum perrenius.

My grandparents were very fond of him. He visited my grandmothers school as a child and kissed her.

He only got in because of how hectic things were in the 20s/30s

in peacetime he was meh

not sure if its fair to blame the entire wartime fiasco on him

>He visited my grandmothers school as a child and kissed her
That's hot.

he was too hung up on muh mare nostra

>supporting someones ideology because you seen them in person

Did they give any opinions on the war?

I've had this theory for years tha Mussolini was actually autistic, or at least somewhere on the spectrum.

I mean, everything fits, his speech mannerism, his awkward posture and behaviors, his idealized convictions, his instability, his FUCKING POTATO FACE

>X historical figure was actually autisitc!
This notion that every outstanding person in history was autistic really needs to fucking die.

They were very anti-German because some people in my family were Communist partisans who were executed. My great grandmother used to tell us about the war and cry a lot.

before I clicked the thumbnail I thought that was an x-ray of a woman giving birth.

>This notion that every outstanding person in history was autistic really needs to fucking die.
I think you might be autistic m8

Mussolini was alright desu. Saved Italy from the depression, industrialized them, and cleaned up the country. He wasn't a real totalitarian and had the people's love for the most part.

Yeah, but on the downside his writings were the most autistic shit this side of Kant

I'd like to have a word with you.

who /vincere/ here?

>industrialized them,
Got more info on this, I know he stopped factories from failing but what new industries did he create other than turning cashcrops into wheat crops?

>cleaned up the country.
Came close to, when he pulled back the iron prefect he pretty much demonstrated he wasnt going to truly solve the problem

Well, he was actually relly focused on wheat and shit for the most part, probably because of his rural background; he didn't really do much for industrializations.
Also, his land reclaimin projects have been greatly exaggerated, he did very little on that department
The "not really a totalitarian" stuff comes from Hannah Arendt who really didn't know shit, she described italian fascists as "deep down good people who weren't really cut for the part of the dictator", which is bullshit since there are countless tales of the brutality of the Black Shirts; the fascist regime also checks every point on the list of totalitarianism
He did help alleviate the effects of the great depression tho, that's true

Futurism was p cool t b h

Mussolini's protege was better

...

Metaxas was an Anglo-sucker although i'm sure he sympathised with fascism, hell, his dictatorship was actually fascist. But he knew Greece had no choice but to join the Allies.
