Why did Europe let the Ottomans to conquer Constantinople...

Why did Europe let the Ottomans to conquer Constantinople? I know everyone hated the Greeks but nothing can be worse than the t*rks.

>>>/larp/

It's almost like the wealthy and powerful don't really give a shit about religion if it can't further their political and economic interests

>nothing can be worse than the t*rks
Except Greeks.

They would rather stay orthodox than have their empire saved.

Both Greeks and Turks are pretty chill in person.

How?

All the Greeks and Turks I've known IRL were laid back and goofy, if somewhat effeminate drama queens

They don't give a crap about this medieval stuff unless it's a heated political thing

Because they ALL have bigger shit to worry about? Like the immediate wars affecting them?

Not to mention Constaninople isn't Catholic, and Byzantium spent history calling Western Europeans "barbarian?"

>Why did Europe let
>Europe

Good, you've fallen for the Europe meme.

it was an empire only in name but maybe they would be able to survive if they converted

the question is who would send 100k army to face the Ottomans just to help the Byzantines?

There were multiple crusades called on the Ottomans that failed and thousands of Italians fought to hold Constantinople from the Turks

>and Byzantium spent history calling Western Europeans "barbarian?"
quite justified given what the crusaders were generally doing(not only regarding the byzantines)

Don't you know medieval europeans were pan-european nationalists who saw themselves as one region altogether?

I bet you're also gonna tell me the asians weren't a single entity

>100k
Another 5k would have been enough to hold the city. They nearly survived the last siege just with what they had.

>Why did Europe do [x]
Well the answer is simple. People weren't roleplaying as countries back then

'europe' actively and systemicaly did everything possible for generations to make sure byzantium generaly and constantinopole specificaly goes to shit as fast as possible, and this also destabilised and screwed up much of the balkans softening them up for the comming invasions (fourth crusade especialy, why dont you just burn zadar and a dosen other places and fuck all our shit up thank you so very much)

also, nikopolje was the last coordinated atempt by 'europe' as in franks, germans, pope, etc... to beat the turks back, and it was a catastrophy, and no one talked about it or the ottomans for a long time after that, in fact other than hungarians no one moved a muscle to help out serbs and croats fighting them, and they all pretended the problem doesent exist untill the siedge of vienna, at which point eastern europe, namely croats(suleiman died at some swamp rampart fighting nikola zrinski for the millionth time and they pretended hes alive by tying his corpse up in a chair and generaly loosing most heavy artilery, auxiliaryes and logistics in the process) and poles(jan sobjeski crashed in and raised the actual siedge with a million screaming poles), saved 'europe' not the other way around

the one time 'europe' did something was again down to the eternal venetian, as the great veice lead coalition rekt ottomans shit at lepanto

and again after that nothing

>Europe

No they actually hated the Greeks more than the Turks, I got period texts of a Burgundian spy who literally stated that.

I also call all central asians mongols. Fite me.

t. turd

>what is Crusade of Varna
>what is Crusade of Nicopolis
>what is Florentine Union
Europe did what they could.

Why did Europe let the Ottomans to conquer Constantinople?

Genoa tried to help by sending four supple ships along with a Byzantium ship to run supplies to Constantinople. They even made it thru the Ottoman navy and destroyed like 16 ships.

The truth is that the Kingdom of Hungary and the Kingdom of Poland were the one who would have to do the heavy lifting to save Constantiople and they had no taste for it. Hungary had been trying to save the Greek states from the Ottomans since 1366. The Second Battle of Kosovo in 1448 was when the Kingdom of Hungary just gave up on the matter. Poland only tried during the Crusade of Varna in 1443-1444 and gave up then. Poland was less invested in the matter.

What are regional powers fighting against a common enemy, and what is France doing right before England kicks it shit in

go back to pol

butthurd much ?

They were holding out for the Byzantines to go RCC in exchange, which almost happened several times.

this on a certain level is true

there has never been a truly unified Europe but once by the hand of the Church.

maybe it would have been enough to hold the city (for now) but not to stop the Ottomans

they already had everything around Constantinople

Because they were beyond saving at that point and nobody really liked them that much to begin with

This The Eastern Empire was basically despised by everyone. After the Great Cucking of Constatinople by Peppe&the Crusaders, the Bizantine Empire basically just tried to survived which somehow managed to do against all odds for 2 centuries more.

There were some attempts, mostly from the Hungarians to help the Byzantines ('help' meaning remove turks from the Balkans because, fuck, that's our neighbouring clay), but in the XIV western Europe was very busy doing other things of their own that would define their identity (England was raping France after a perfidious victory and murder of most of the french feudal ruling class which left France pretty fucked up, the HRE striving hard for full memehood status, the Burgundians making their first steps down jewery road, Portugal feeling saudade feels, Castille cucking itself with their self-entitled landlord nobility, Catalonia jumping at the opportunity of picking up pieces of the crumbling byzantine house, and the Italians focused on their cultural Renaissence and merchant republics.

Because nobody like the Byzantines because they were Jews during the Crusades.

>Europe.

They was a Belgian saying that went 'its better to be a Turk, than Catholic', they even minted that on coins, shaped like crescent moons.

Beautiful image. Sauce?

Nothing in particular barbaric

Because the Byzantine emperors did an excellent job of making an enemy out of everyone and their mother, while also being fucked in the ass by Venetian Jews during the 4th crusade.

>They were holding out
Fuck off Constantine
Western Europe did plenty to try and stop the Ottomans

The Protestant rebels in Bohemia asked the Sultan to become his protectorate in 1619.

Because intersect Christian solidarity has never really been a thing

Italians, Frenchmen, and Spaniards had spent the last 200 years trying to conquer Greece

Oh shit. Crescent and star was the coa of Constantinapolis which later became flag of ottoman empire which later became the symbol of islam.
