Well what kind of poor are you talking, enough to not worry about necessity like food, water, and housing but dont have much extra money but enough to spend on hobbies if budgeted right or poeple that can not even concern them with fashion and are barely scrapping by.

Being a poorfag in the former category and know many people that reside in that category alot of them do dress like shit and mainly by choice.

This is mainly because being poor puts a emphasis on the cost of items rather than how piece fit together and aesthetic.

It also has created a culture that is against shopping at thrift stores because it is low cost and therefore looked at as cheap and low quality.

Theres no reason to talk about the latter because clothes are merely need to be functional and whether it looks good is unimportant.

lookbooks don't work for the average person. Most people don't take their looks from look books but from who is around them and where they need to fit in.

I used to work at a dry cleaner in an area full of poor african immigrants
They spend all their money on clothes and new cellphones
They're a very narcissistic people

They NEVER put their phones in their bags or pockets, because they feel the need to show off their new phone to everyone.
When they need to use both hands, they won't put the phone in their pocket, they'll leave it on the counter.
I lost count how many times they flat out forgot their phones and drove off. coming back hours later asking if they left their phone here.

They're also really shit with money management. You'd be surprised how often these people gets their cards declined for shit as little as a $10 transaction

The funniest parts is when they bring in fake designer clothes.
Most often it's fake versace and fake burberry t-shirts
They always feel the need to point out that it's designer shit and to take care of it.
Then I point out that it's fake.
Naturally they say it's real, but then I show them the proof.
The most common is the tag and how shitty it's stitched on is always a dead give away

Also there's the guys who wear's women's blouses and thinks they're men's shirts. They get so defensive about it.
My favorite is when their friends are around and they start laughing at him.

All you people saying that it's an issue of money are fucking stupid. There are thrift stores and department stores that sell cheap basics. Besides, it's obvious that many poor people DO spend a lot on clothes, take a walk through the ghetto and just count all the people wearing $100+ sneakers.

The fact is that poor people are fucking stupid. It's not their fault of course, as they were probably raised by other children because their mothers worked three jobs and their fathers were just not present. And education systems in poor areas suck pretty bad, assuming they make it through high school at all.
Anyways, the fact that they're stupid makes them much more susceptible to advertising, which makes them put a TON of importance on brand names. So they spend their clothes money on stuff brand name stuff that will be as flashy as possible so that their peers, who also eat up advertisements like McDs, think they're cool.
