Tumblr girl is at least interested in something. I don't get the negative attitude, she is young and probably don't know anything outside her normal life but nobody was born with knowledge. I grew up in 90s where internet didn't exist yet or you had to use dial up connection and share the computer with all the family if you had internet at all. That also meant no secrets, you couldn't really browse what you liked and I don't mean porn. Everyone was exactly the same unless you lived in a big city and happened to have alternative friends. People literally believed that top40 music was the best because it was the most popular like it was a contest. Teens didn't even know what styles existed. I don't see how tumblr is regression from that. Of course if you compare them to someone who has lived through that phase they seem stupid but that is basically with everyone looking back at their teenage years too

I think basic bitches are more likely to project themselves as loving people/life on social media with all their other basic friends, but are really actually self-centered. Tumblr girls are less likely to project that kind of false persona, and show their awful personality more publicly. So they're both shitty and whiny in their own ways.
