Modeling isn't something you just wake up and decided do to.

If you're under 6ft forget it.

Anyways you need to work at it for at least a good year prior unless you have perfect genetics

Is this a candy person?

my first piece of advice is to get out of texas

>Thinking of becoming a model

You make me sick.

I'm not trying to do runway, just photography and clothes, a teacher was suggesting it too

its absurd that a select few people are paid to wear clothing while the rest of us arent

Basically its the fancy part of advertising, where you don't even have to look good. I know a short Asian girl thats alright looking who models

why?

Just do porn.

because the prerequisites for doing so are pretty much rng that you have very little influence over

>It is a lot of worj
The hours are long and irregular and you don't get paid much but your pretty much just walk and pose. It's a lot easier than landscaping or something

>tips ontowhere I can apply?
You need to hire a professional photographer to take pictures of you. This is called a portfolio. You then need to go to agencies (in person) in fashion capitals (NYC, Paris, Tokyo, etc.) and show them your portfolio. If they think they can get you work then you're officially a model.

I did that for a little while, stopped when it got in the way of actual school - castings and shoots constantly interfered with class and campus responsibilities. Good money for how little you have to do but if you're trying to find something that'll actually allow you to be educated, get some sort of hourly job or paid internship. Somewhere relevant to what field you plan on working in.

Tough luck. No one wants to looks at people who aren't beautiful. Beautiful people sell more clothes.

it is such an injustice

basically, what are the prerequired for modeling ?

not OP but I was considering modeling. I've been told I should, but I don't think I have like a conventional modeling look, so I was always kind of hesitant. I'm super skinny and kind of weird looking honesty lol, but I guess that'd work for like the SLP or a heroin chic vibe. I live in Pittsburgh so I feel like I'm kind of fucked unless I move to LA or NYC. Would I be right in saying that?

That capitalism you 16 year old ugly, whiny fuck.

underage b&

Try to model for American Apparel. They have some very casual looking models. If you are average looking you need to attempt to model for average clothing. I got offered a modeling position at Aeropostale and I'm not super beautiful but I'm average - above average. You probably won't make any real money unless you are 10/10.

dude says he doesn't want to necessarily become a runway model. there's a difference, guys

start small and get discovered..

Post pics fag

u sound ugly.

You'd really rather have politicians select who models?

ok, so you're saying that because someone is born attractive they're handed a wage and connections on a plate? please explain how this is capitalism

bump

ecco2k isn't 6ft

Imagine a 5'6 guy who's a little chubby modeling on a runway. Who the hell wants to look at that? I see those people all the time. I wanna see the clothes used to their full potential on someone tall and beautiful.

Meant for

you can put nice clothes on an average or ugly person and still have them look nice. i agree with you that it wont sell as well but my original point was that some people are more attractive than average and its unfair that because of that, they have access to a job which has few other prerequisites. i know you misreplied to me

The world isnĀ“t fair you fucking communist grow the fuck up

If that's true then why am I so happy even though I have a sinus headache?

If you wanna become a model be between 187-192 centimeters have a unique look somehow and be really skinny that's really all there is. if you an fill these criterias just google modeling agency in ___ (your area) if you do not fill up these criteria cry and accept reality and do something else. also modeling really isnt that fun or well paid unless you're well known. Scource: me

Also if you're not tall and good looking you better know people in the industry

it's ecco2k

I've been called good looking a lot but I'm not really tall justv average. Not trying to do runway though

My friend is a model, but lately work has dryed up because hes getting "Older" although hes 21. Thats considered old in the modelling industry. So if your like 16/ 17 id say go for it. But if your like 20 forget about it.

...

I'm 19, any options where I could go?

I'm in San Antonio, I'll take some tasteful nudes of you if you'd like ;^)

how tall is he?

haha yeah

you literally know nothing about modeling.

When I saw him, he was maybe 5'10

nigga i got multiple offers for modeling and i'm under 6ft and have bad skin.

be hot

bump, found out I can't leave Texas but on the good side I'm pretty attractive and dress pretty well

You sound like like Jaden, time to reevaluate boy

yall dont know shit, i'm an actual model (pic related)

Yes you can model if you're under 6', you just have to be handsome and in great shape. My roomate is 5'10" and has worked really well in Milan, China and Japan.

Don't hire a photographer to take photos of you to start a "portfolio", just go to some good agencies when they have a walk in. Big agencies like IMG and Elite will shoot you down if you're a noob, find an agency thats willing to work with someone that cant pose.

If you get signed you'll get some test shoots, a test shoot is when a photographer needs some cash so they do quick shoots for like $100 a head to help build a models book. These test shoots will probably go poorly because you can't pose. Eventually after a few test shoots you might get a casting or two, unless you're really good you wont get the job but it's good practice.

From here you might get some work, but if you live in a city that's not known for fashion you probably won't. Your agency will shop you around to some other international agencies in Asia if you want, usually the Asian markets have many more jobs, especially for white people.

The hardest part about modeling is learning how to pose well, it sounds dumb but it really can be hard, this is basically what you have to learn how to do (youtube.com/watch?v=iDbfWT-hSG8)

And finally the money, you are only gonna get a lot of money if you live and work in New York, otherwise you're gonna have to travel. China is great for money but it's hard work, Japan is good for money and the jobs are easier but you have like 5 castings a day everyday, Korea is okay for money but the lifestyle is really easy and fun. I've never been to Europe or America for modeling but my roomates and other models have so I have a pretty good idea as to how it is.

You wont make any money in this industry if you want to go to school so pick one or the other

Nice copy pasta lol

that pink afro is next level and cool as fucking shit.

k, first time i post honest advice on Veeky Forums and that's what i get

fuck this place

Good advice, ignore the other guy, that video you linked is CRAZY. fuck. can you do that?

yeah i can just not quite as fast

nice trips btw
