Honestly with the Yugoslav Wars it's hard not to see the Serbs as the bad guys. Even when you present an unbiased retelling of the story Serbia is just a natural antagonist. It's a bunch of angry nationalists and bigots blindly following authoritarian leaders who they practically worshipped. The Serbs really made it hard to sympathize with them.

Serbs are a whole different kind of nation in Europe. I spent time with them, lived in Belgrade for a time while I was studying, am from Scotland originaly. They see things very differently than others, very nihilistic view on life, only value their see is merit, you either die as someone or live as noone, of course they are western influenced Serbs, but most of them have that mentality.

Also they do not like muslims, not for the people, nor for the religion, but for what it represents to them. Muslims in the Balkans represent betrayal (Bosniaks being Serbs that betrayed their kin and became Turks is how they see it), and they will never, ever forget and excuse that, as it is seen in the 90's. For them the 90's war was the purge of the islamic traitors since hundreds of years before. A lot of anons in this thread ask themselves if they are all the same why do they kill each other, well that's the answers, for Serbs they are all traitors. Croats betrayed them in WW2, Bosniaks betrayed them in the middle ages. They went mad when the same shit happend in the 90's and they 'betrayed' them again, as they see it, when they started claiming their own territories in Yugoslavia in the separatist wars.

well, this sums it up. yes, the 90's had that 'betrayal' aspect in them, however we weren't agressive towards muslims, because they were muslims, we were agressive because they started proclaiming their state although more than a half of that state (Bosnia and Herzegovina) was inhabited by us, and the government they were installing was anti-serb with a politician who was a declared nazi supporter, that was a no go, and it came to a war. Similar thing happend in Croatia and Kosovo. In Croatia we were genocided (Croats still celebrate that day) in Kosovo we were genocided (Albanians and EU celebrate that day) in Bosnia we managed to survive and form an entity. We are however the bad boys, since we were in the position of power and went against NATO, the western media disected us thouroughly.

Americans got their military bases, the focus shifted to Syria, hopefully we'll be left alone for 50 years and manage to recover. Although with the muslim population down here being the biggest ISIS recruits by numbers in Europe, I doubt the region will ever calm down.
