What do you guys think of this guide i made?

What do you guys think of this guide i made?
i was trying to do a little updated sticky sort of thing for newer people. anything you guys would change?

very good one of the biggest thing to look good is to have clothes to fit AND not be chubby

As a whole, it's not a bad guide, can definitely take someone from slob to basic or even decently outfitted.

It's a bit too tame tame though. No basketball shoes is a good prompt to get someone to try to dress "better" as a whole, but to act like no basketball shoes could be Veeky Forums is way dumb.

Same with work boots/Timberlands. Those can certainly be worn casually.

Maybe bring up some actual fit ideas like some simple, layering, cuffing, and also mention simple accessories like sunglasses, watches, etc

thanks for the feedback. i was going to try and turn it into a sort of "do's and donts" guide. maybe include some examples of when certain things fit certain occasions like you said.
definitely planning to add more accessories and styling. just having trouble finding good pictures for some of them

A good, straightforward guide on basics.

I think the simplicity of the guide is one of it's strengths, it's seems like it'd be good for teaching newfags the basics which they could supplement upon by browsing the board. Too bad the sticky is never ever going to updated.

great guide desu

this is pretty much perfect for people who want to dress 'nicely', or for lurkers.

text is good, but everything you show is fuck ugly
this would only be useful to a basement dweller whos never bought his own clothes

>i was trying to do a little updated sticky sort of thing for newer people.

Learn to read OP's posts, fucktard.

It's well made but its pretty boring.

you forgot the Bernie Sanders button, cuck porn, glasses, and fedora, because they go well with all of this

kind of the point. its meant for those types of people looking for help on this board, and dont know where to start.

Yeah. This is way better.

>Earnestly spouting off /pol/ memes

Kill yourself, or stop gargling Veeky Forums memes up like a pornstar gobbles cock.

what type of t-shirt is your favorite? Like actual t-shirt brand

>do not wear timberlands casually

are you deadass my guy? this would NEVER fly in new york b
pretty good guide tho
Alternative Apparel
Lady White Co.

I used to like American Apparel, but the sizing got inconsistent as hell.

Uniqlo's tees are also okay

I'm actually from NY and a lot of people I know are sick of them. Maybe it was the NY memes that killed it.

What are the brown leather boots at the bottom?

Jesus Christ I hate these guides wtf. Fashion is a reflection of yourself and what you want to project to th your world. So you can't just reduce it to a spread sheet. People who follow this would look generic as fuck.

>i was trying to do a little updated sticky sort of thing for newer people.

i.e. OP meant this for noobs who probably only getting into fashion to look less like a perm/a//v/irgin.

Basic/generic is fine for those people.

>Do not wear basketball shoes unless you are playing basketball
Watch me drop a few on these Jawns OP

Roshes ?fuck off

The jeans care guide is retarded. Just wash them normally. If they aren't cheap and shitty, they will stand up to it just fine.

W2C bottom left boots?

It's great if you want to dress like a generic middle class white guy with no sense of self.

after lurking here for a few years i think i can give a few words of guidance
>there are no rules in fashion per se but its best you follow general guidelines unless you actually know what you're doing
>low rise pants are the devil
>confidence can go such a long way, further than any clothes you will ever buy
>your style shouldnt necessarily fit into strict guidelines of an already preconceived style, its okay to borrow from particular styles but rarely will you ever want to commit yourself solely to one style
>not everything has to be skinny fit / slim fit / form fitting
>try not to fall for the streetwear meme
>remember that having a decently well looked after body is just as important as the clothes you wear
> half of an "outfit" is the "fit", meaning its actually how the clothes fit on you and fit together in tandem rather than the actual quality / cost / aesthetics of the individual piece
>uniqlo is good for basics but try not too buy everything from them
>you dont need to be rich to afford nice things, lurk more and find deals
>we are no better than /mfa/, even comparing the two is a false equivalence
>take everything with a grain of salt here, including these points
>you will regret purchases, its part of the experience, research more
>have fun

man uniqlo just keeps getting worse

i would add text saying all of this is guidelines, have fun experimenting. I would also make a list of popular mistakes with examples and how to solve it

>remember that having a decently well looked after body is just as important as the clothes you wear
> half of an "outfit" is the "fit", meaning its actually how the clothes fit on you and fit together in tandem rather than the actual quality / cost / aesthetics of the individual piece
>not everything has to be skinny fit / slim fit / form fitting

PLEASE ADD THIS
Also id say its important to not fall for the trap of Brand/Designer name > Actual quality

>you dont need to be rich to afford nice things, lurk more and find deals
>you will regret purchases, its part of the experience, research more
Wallace & Barnes selvedge black denim fits both of these. Og $350 (yeah right) on sale $120
Worst "leather" (cardboard) patch I've ever seen and couldn't return because of clearance price.

That's the most autistic reason to return something.

That's like returning a shirt because the tag is "itchy".

Just seamrip it off, you tard.

It's not just that. The 'sick fadez' are completely uneven. I have stack fades on one leg, but not the other & I have a nice ass...
>27 5'9 140
>cyclist, cross country runner
and they puff out in a cone like bras from the 50's back there.

not really
if the leather tab sucks ass its partially indicative of the quality of the jeans
its not the same as an itchy tag

maybe a guide dressing like a suburban adult

but not fashion

Veeky Forums has the absolute worst taste in skate shoes.

skate shoes aren't effay, Tony Hawk

It's literally the same thing as an itchy tag, because the back patch serves no purpose, much like a size tag after you've already bought the jeans.

But as they've already said, other factors were the actual reason.

You Veeky Forumsggot

That's what I was referring to in the second sentence, dipshit.

you just made this? seems like something from 2009 Veeky Forums

Yeah. You've got me there. But I'm also drinking bourbon so please forgive.

No worries, I've done worse while drunk 4channing.

...

yeah and i just made this too. all these are drafts though i might edit some info and use better design.

lmao you are from mfa

no, but ideally its for someone like that. its for people starting at the absolute bottom, and just want to dress ok instead of shitty.

i think it's worthless

hope to never see it again

What's wrong with buttoning up shirts?

Every rule has an exception, this is targeted towards beginners learning basics, if you know how to pull of a fully buttoned shirt then great

Clark's
killshots

lmao

nothing wrong with it as long as you pull it off well. ive seen dudes who look like they just bought their very first fancy adult shirt

lmao you'd be surprised at how good that looks to normies.

Not OP, but DBs are fine if you buy the seude ones.

I prefer suede chelseas tho.

Also OP the Killshots have been discontinued for months now. Reddit cried over it.

>wash jeans once every 1-6 months

top kek

ishyddt

Learn to read the post you respond to you fucking fucktard fucky
New people to a fashion board is one thing, people who've never left their house is another thing.

what about is you're a blackman?

what kind of shoe is that nike?

chances are if you're on Veeky Forums that hits the same demographic
your argument of the clothes looking shit shows that you dont realise its not for a fashionista like yourself, the clothes actually look fine
not good
fine

>your argument of the clothes looking shit shows that you dont realise x

Pretty good though:
>your style shouldnt necessarily fit into strict guidelines of an already preconceived style, its okay to borrow from particular styles but rarely will you ever want to commit yourself solely to one style
I'd just say "Do yourself" in short. Saying shit like 'you don't want to commit yourself solely to one style' is just confusing, I don't necessarily commit myself to 'ones style' but everything I wear is me, it's my style, so it is one style. It's such arbitrary definition that people here will just understand to mean different "cores" or what have you.
>not everything has to be skinny fit / slim fit / form fitting
This is just about knowing your body and what works for it, of course doesn't need to be slim but be honest to yourself, if slim doesn't suit you, don't wear it and if it does, don't deny yourself from wearing slim stuff.
>try not to fall for the streetwear meme
I'm not a big fan of the current meme streetwear look but this is bit of a silly advice, especially since what is streetwear and what isn't is not set in stone and depends on the context and shit. Streetwear can be good and fun, do you, if streetwear is you then wear it!
>remember that having a decently well looked after body is just as important as the clothes you wear
> half of an "outfit" is the "fit", meaning its actually how the clothes fit on you and fit together in tandem rather than the actual quality / cost / aesthetics of the individual piece
I'd add, again, that knowing and understand your body and it's proportions is important and part of these both. Everyone has unique features, make best of what you have and have realistic image of what you look like all naked.

All in all still very good points.

Every waywt thread is the same you are all wearing the same shit. same topcoats same shoes holy fuck Veeky Forums is the most circlejerkey unoriginal board on this site

better than plebbit

they wear the same shit too this is pretty much the standard look you're all going for.
either this or the rolled up jeans with loafers and a white tee look

there's more bad in plebbit than here.

no we're not that much better
if you're going to refer to /mfa/ specifically you have to realise its literally short for "male fashion advice"
its literally for "normies" who dont know how to dress
this whole
>better than reddit
rhetoric doesnt even work, it doesnt make anything on Veeky Forums any better, and its aiming for low hanging fruit
the main problem in our waywt's is as follows
>your fit is bad because _____ (sometimes less eloqently put as "fucking garbage")
>post fit
then the person doesnt post fit and thus the original criticism is ignored

thanks for that

>no we're not that much better
That's all I need to know

So fucking boring how can you call this fashion? Be an individual

bretty gud

There is so much more for newfaggots to learn though but you'd hardly get it all in one image

Heres another newfag guide

Let the effeminate skinny jean shit die already

And wash your fucking pants, you smell like a hobo

something that you'll never find most likely since it's been discontinued.
jcrew killshots

Not bad
Tips to improve tho
Only pullover hoodies
No zip ups
Some simple jackets, a denim one, a parka, a simple bomber
Derby's
Add some tips on color blocking
And simple fit ideas
If you want a new sticky
add some ideas on non conventional pieces, like hantens and poncho's and whatnot
Also do simple brand intros like they used to on MFA, like just a short description on like raf of gosha, along with a few inspo pics
But we need other anons to help if we want to revamp the sticky

haha no

This is way too specific tho
Complicated designer jeans look good on some people
So do specialized shoes
We shouldn't be an MFA clone or one of those gentlemen YouTube channels
I think effay should be more creative and instead of telling people not to wear things just give some intros on styling basics and having some intros to different styles
We should like unique and odd pieces that look kind of wonky
We should be a board about fashion instead of fixing people who wear gamer tees from Kohl's

>you can not wear white or brown shoes with black pants.

bullshit

Most guides are made for people starting from the bottom desu. Rarely do I see an intermediate guide

Timberland Earthkeepers Original

Yeah but they should mention that what's on the guide is nothing special and have some intros into actual fashion

What is a good brand for hoodies?

I'd recommend some of the air max 1 if you find some cheap

>jcrew killshots
wack. anything similar in black?

Champion

but thats sort of the purpose. providing simple guides like this that dont go too into fashion is fine. i get what youre aying about this board being above that. but like it or not people who dress that shitty still bleed through here asking for dumb advice.
i think its better to show them something like this and tell them to fuck off.
rather than just telling them to fuck off

anyone want to recommend a similar sneaker for the guide?

TR jeans ?

Yes.

I need some black sneakers for a reasonable price. Any recommendations?

>$70

>I think effay should be more creative
fucking why though
it's not like this place is any better than mfa or those youtube channels, if anything this place should be more basic because people struggle to understand even simple guides like these

Because Veeky Forums is pretentious AF
And fa used to be more creative when we had guys the one on the chair and mwwtt or whatever his name was
Who else wore those Japanese firefighter coats in a Streetwear fit before him? That shit was dope and creative
I started browsing in mid 2015 and it was way better than now
Good threads were more common and even the shit posts were funnier

What the fuck
Is that Mt. marcy?

>not exclusively dressing like Kendrick Lamar
wyw

>black shoes with white pants
>no
Lel

>hanten
So that's what it's called, I keep seeing them and wanting it for around the house

A S C O L O U R

If a new person comes here, sees this and thoroughly conforms to it then I would feel sorry for them because this is pretty much basic (male) bitch /r/mfa tier.

Go post it there so you can get some upvotes for your effort instead of this (You).

I thought that was what those Japanese firefighter coats were called

>current year
>not wearing jorts

Pretty basic, but still good. I'd also stress the importance of creating sensibilities and building taste over a period of time vs. sticking to any hard and fast rules. Basically, add 'lurk moar' and you're good.

If people actually learnt the basics before trying to be "creative", Veeky Forums WAYWT would be a lot less cringeworthy

When you can actually pull of tame but flawless outfits without thinking about it, then you can look for your own style

That's basic as fuck knowledge though

>no white shoes with black pants
jej
