Reminder

Anyone here do yoga? I'm trying to cure my upper back pain and computer posture.

yoga is a meme if you do it for actual health but it can work as a placebo

it seems to be good for flexibility, though. Isn't flexibility a part of "health"? I mean I don't think anybody said it's gonna cure cancer

>tfw dumbells arrived today (nothing heavy, two 9kg ones)
>tfw only had a banana and drank 2l of water

feels gud

I have upper back pain, probably some muscle imbalances and tightness. So I've been trying to strengthen up there and stretch, but haven't really found comprehensive programs on that.

Posture is a complicated bitch. I doubt that the extent of your bad posture is contained to your your back. The body works in chains, and chains tend to work from the ground up. You probably have bad ankle mobility, hip mobility, and lumbar hyperextension. Yoga can help with the ankles and hips. You need core strength for the lumbar and back strength for the upper back. You won't get strong from yoga. Pullups and planks would work if you don't have access to weights. Also, you shouldn't expect much strength progress on a massive caloric deficit.

Thank you. I've been reading about that, although I can't say I've figured out exactly what to do yet. I've started stretching my hamstrings and piriformis twice daily. I've started working out my back with some dumbells at home to try to strengthen it. I'm watching my posture and stretching my chest, doing back bends, etc. I still hurt though. I realize it likely takes time.

My caloric deficit is slight since I'm basically at my goal weight. I'm only eating like 250 under which allows for oddball binge and normal days.

Dumbbell rows are one of my favorite lifts. They are mad beneficial for fixing your problem.

You may consider adding downward dog. It's a key yoga pose and a genuinely great stretch. You can go from this pose to doing push-ups, and I think it would help you to add this to what you've been doing. It will stretch your calves and hamstrings and the push-ups will get the blood flowing and work the muscles opposite the rows. Even if you're imbalanced you don't want to go whole hog the other way.

The focus for posture is basically building a foundation at the hips and balancing everything above that. It does take time.

i do yoga for flexibility

try sleeping on the floor on your back

One of my favorite rings I used to wear everyday no longer fits... I'm happy about physical progress but dang, I loved that ring.
Ah well, skelehands here I come.

Just ask your goldsmith to make it smaller, it's usually not very expensive.

I have a cup of water but i'm not sure what to do with it. Can anyone help?

Oh good idea! Thanks user

Thanks. I'll incorporate those. I tried to do the downward dog once before but there was some limitation in flexibility I had that didn't allow me to quite get there. I'll try again tonight and see where that is.

I've been laying on my back on the floor often lately. It feels so good. My back makes all kinds of cracking sounds when I lay down. I feel like an old man.

Not sure I could sleep on the floor and on my back, but, I could see that helping.. Maybe I'll try it when I exhaust all other methods.

it's good for your joints and bones, and maybe peace of mind but that's it.

You don't necessarily need to sleep on the floor, but sleeping on your back does help.

Do girls actually browse Veeky Forums? I assumed it was a sausagefest

When I sleep on my back with a pillow though, my head is forward since my torso is heavier than my head, which is bad, right? Seems like the side with a straight spine might be best?

>5'11"
>138lbs
>pot belly
How much do I have to lose to get rid of this holy fuck

there's no hope
whoops posted in old thread
It would depend on your bed and pillow. If you have an old (sagging) bed and/or a big pillow that wouldn't be ideal. You could always not use the pillow if your bed is really concave. You are sleeping, so you will be very relaxed, it's not resistance training. The muscles in your your back being slightly extended isn't bad either, since those are weaker and need the rest.

/thinspo/ kik group

I think there are a handful of us? Though I do spend more time on cgl then here

hungry but ima drink coffee till after my run tn
then order some hibachi n sashimi
if>>>>

I think that's why my upper back hurts. They are like overused from my big head being forward and bad posture.

This guy's ribs don't even show while all my bones protrude everywhere,i'm basically skin and bone but i don't even feel nearly thin

What's wrong?

You've probably been trying to correct your head position with muscles in your upper back that you don't really have, and while the rest of your body is misaligned. Posture works from the ground up, so to fix your upper back you have to fix everything below it, too.

If you're in pain, quality rest should be a priority.

Thanks. I've tried resting it but very hard to rest the upper back because just walking around irritates it when posture is bad. I tried to walk upright and I've been conscious of it but then sometimes I get too stiff walking around and it makes it worse. :o(

Been there. It does suck because once you start thinking about your posture it's hard to stop. You get caught in a situation where slouching hurts but you aren't strong enough to stand up straight all the time. It just takes time, desu. You'll make it.

Thanks. :o)

yes, we do.

I only browse thinspo threads because from what other threads I've seen you guys have no idea how to dress yourselves anyway.

Fashion seems way more enjoyable for women anyway. So many more options.

Just ate a carrot and a clementine

Should i feel bad?

That's not even 50 calories and it's got some good vitimins. Sounds nice.

...

Eating low cal and healthy is great! Good job!

You should never feel guilty about veggies and water, and fruit you should very rarely feel guilty about; it's not like you ate a whole bunch of bananas or something.

Tfw no tall and thinspo Asian gf.

...

What's this from?

>Fashion seems way more enjoyable for women anyway.

>hunger pangs
>dizziness
>nausea

I'm gonna make some mint tea and hope this passes. What teas do you enjoy?

No idea. Some waifu'd model so probably insta or Snapchat.

I don't see how this guy who spends way too much time looking at porn has anything to do with fashion and frankly I pity him.

All I was saying that it's fun to wear dresses and skirts (in public), jeez.

Guys can be the most fashionable in their group if they just wear clothes that fit right anyway. Maybe invest in a nice button up shirt instead of always wearing T-shirts and basketball shorts.

Thanks for your kind words,i wanted to fast and that's the main reason i feel bad,i'm stupid but not stupid enough to actually believe that i will get fat :(

>basketball shorts.
Basketball shorts are yoga pants of men. Wearing basketball shorts anywhere but the gym is for absolute trashballs.

I disagree about mens fashion not being enjoyable though. I used to think that but there is a lot men can do to look great, without looking like autism cases or edgelords (i.e. taking advice from Veeky Forums).

(not the user you were responding to, btw)

coffee

I understand being upset about breaking a fast, but just think about it this way, you broke it by eating some healthy food and didn't binge, you would have to break the fast at some point so it's better to break it with veggies and fruit instead of greasy fried foods or something.

Heck, you may as well go make yourself a salad or soup or stir fry. It'll help replenish some nutrients for your body. Drink some water too!

Oh, I don't mean to say it's NOT enjoyable for men, it's just a) more varied for women objectively since women have more garments to choose from (dresses, skirts) and b) it's largely considered a feminine interest so women face less social "repercussions" for being interested in fashion.

But like I said, it's almost like the bar is lower for guys since so many guys I see barely try at all, so even just getting clothes that fit properly and aren't stained and not living in band T-shirts make you a "fashionable" guy.

I'll stick to water drinking because it was a terrible day,ate like 1000-1100 calories :( but was fasting for 32hours before that so no big harm done

I'm not really a fan of greasy foods, whenever i binge i do it on sweets and poultry

thanks for the tips!

It can only work properly if she has thin legs. Otherwise some thunderthigh girl wearing that same outfit will either look like a whore or a sjw.

hi thin ppl

I'm like slightly overweight and it never really bothered me before, I just wore dark colours and slightly oversized things and got away with it but it sort of limits what you can wear and i'm just not happy with myself at this point, although I'm 6'3 and being skinny might not the best thing ever I'm going to attempt losing weight

I'm actually too scared to weigh myself but I'd put myself at about 13 st max. I'm not noticeably fat yet but still I'm getting there.

bearing in mind that I just cannot eat healthily what do you think the best thing for me is? lots of water or whatever? I might attempt some light exercise but I'm woefully unfit

if you cant eat healthy, at least eat left. find your TDEE, the amount of calories you burn a day, and eat less than that. walk more, cut down where you can.

I'd agree the bar is set pretty low for men. As far as social repercussions, I'd say for sure when men are younger. In a professional atmosphere though, provided the style is appropriate, I've found it to get mostly a positive response. It's harder when men are younger and mixed in with the people who are going to become slobs as adults, giving someone shit for trying to dress nicely which is basically essential if you want to conduct business as an adult. I mean even before I made an effort with fashion, I dressed in shirts that fit and clean clothing simply because it made sense for work.

fast for 3 days and you'll be a new person,i used to be like you

Some people just need to kickstart stuff to actually work for them

Kickstart a healthy diet and a caloric deficit, you can do it!

would you see a noticeable difference in 3 days?

You will guaranteed lose at least 1,2kg or more of pure fat,you won't really see a huge difference but you will sure as hell lose weight

The biggest thing about it is that you will feel like a new person and you will learn to "like" hunger

you need salt.

>I just cannot eat healthily
i think you should stay fat and unloved

> not noticeably fat

we notice

>thin girls look better
Obviously, user.

If you're serious you need to weigh yourself and find your TDEE. Simple ways to cut calories long term are to stop drinking calories (sugar and cream in coffee, soda, etc) and skip breakfast.

Read Veeky Forums's sticky since you probably know nothing about calories.

>I just cannot eat healthily
Grow up and eat healthy. When I ate like shit I felt like shit. It wasn't noticeable to me until I started eating better, then I realized I was living in a shitty mental fog constantly from the awful food.

Food is for sustenance, you shouldn't just be eating because you're bored and it tastes good, you should be eating food for fuel. And I promise there are healthy foods that ARE tasty, it just takes actual work to cook them.

A lot of gyms are having New Year's deals right now, go join one. Even Planet Fitness is a good idea as long as you don't eat their goddamn pizza.

this this this

whenever i eat breakfast i'm extremely hungry for the whole day

whenever i skip it i struggle not to die from malnutrition(obviously an exaggeration)

I wish that was me. I get a stomach ache from coffee if I don't eat.

are apples a good start because they're literally the only thing I can eat that won't kill me before I'm 40

you must learn to love the side effects of not eating if you want to lower your bmi under the normal tier

Do you guys ever relapse? After keeping up my diet and everything for almost 2 years I went from w29 to w32 in about 3 months. Considering my previous notes I can make it back to 135lbs within 3 months if I keep it up religiously but for now I am disgusted with my weight as well as my weak will I showed there. I cut pretty hard for the past 10 days and obviously the scale is showing the results.

How do you deal with times like this?

i yo-yo through weights. i've been 132, 145, 167, and 187, and 125 in the past 7 years.

right now i have finally found the mindset to my diet that i need to keep it off permanently.

I'm from cgl and just come to /fa for thinspo, I'm sure i'm not the only one

Is being fat Veeky Forums???

being thin is effay

Yes. Did you read Veeky Forums's sticky yet? Any listed healthy foods pop out at you?

I gravitate towards soups and seafood since I hate stuff like salads. But veggie soups and fish like salmon are tasty af and often low calorie.

My biggest yo-yo was 15 lbs but I always get back down.

how was my day boys

i need more veggies and less meat i think

I've been everything from 123-147 in the past four years, currently at my lowest. I think the thing that's kept the weight off this time (and is helping me slowly lose weight) is higher restricting - I used to crash diet which used to led to me binging hard, feeling shit about myself and then having to start all over again. Now I limit to 1000-1200 calories and walk 10,000 steps a day and the weight is slowly melting off
>5'3
>123lbs
>gw:105

Thanks pal

>chocolate
>peanuts
>somehow 700cal of chicken

lmao wtf

I'm staying with my boyfriend and his family this week and I can't seem like I'm blatantly restricting so I've been taking really small bites of things (and giving the rest to my bf) and keeping track of it. Is that bullshit? It's not like I can figure out the actual calories in one mouthful. Should I just relax and eat normally or keep it up?

Just eat and enjoy yourself, go out for some long runs and up your exercise activity once you get back home.

just say you feel sick or something

This was my first major relapse, as stated it took me well over a year to my "goal" but I managed to hold it for at least 6 months; since I went from obesity I even went to people specialized to talk about excessive skin removable (they all told me that my skin would never completely retract) but when I found the right surgeon I should've just gone through with it. Oh well. No excuses this time.

it was about to go bad. not that that's an excuse. i feel a bit ill right now from eating so much. :(

how many times a day is it recommended to eat?

10x

it's not about stupid shit like how slow or many times you eat. it's about what you eat and the calories in them

Why can't you say that you are "blatantly restricting"? You didn't mention how far along you are or what your "goals" are but if you start lying it but to others you may end up lying to yourself as well. At least in my experience, you shouldn't ever hide it.

That's pretty much why I'm here, sometimes I like looking through the waywt threads for laffs though.

i'm also just here for this thread. the board is too male focused and seems to be a mix of dudes spending $130 on a plain white t-shirt (fucking lmao) or really ugly shit that makes them look like a serial killer.

Hol up. U sayin' that 340$ trench coat makes me look like some finna serial killer?

don't be silly senpai, trenchcoats make you look like a sex offender. big difference

You wish you looked as good as a serial killer

then why do people keep saying you slow your metabolism down by once eating once a day for example?

That's about controlling appetite, it's still what you eat that actually matters, though.

...

because they have no idea what metabolism actually is and end up saying retarded shit like not eating will make you gain weight

Oh okay, that's much better then.

Serial killers do have top tier staches.

...
