Indian Castes

How does India's caste system work? How/why did it develop?

The native Indo-European caste system was maintained by the Aryan invaders until they met the Dravidian peoples at which point simple hereditary divisions of labor became something much more tangible ("What difference is there between high and low caste? Well for starters the low castes are all a different color").

This is false, racialization of caste is a Colonial British fantasy. There are dark Brahmins and light dalits.

19th century, when the brits started writing it down.

>There are dark Brahmins and light dalits.

That happened centuries after the inception of the caste system though. In the beginning, it did have a racial basis and there are still racial differences between the castes

You have no proof of this especially given the basis of Indus.

Read a book by one of the classical Indologists instead of listening to the ramblings of Pajeet, the BJP district chairman

The more important issue, I think, is the problem that while the majority of other civilizations on the planet had some variety of social caste, India hasn't and refuses to grow out of it. It's fucking ridiculous, unsubstantiated abuse.

>implying the subservient light skin Indians were not attempting ton align with English whiteness to approximate a higher position in society.

Why are most Indians brown skin now then? Does that imply the Indo-Aryans and Dravidians mixed?

>Indians
>long-term social planning

what do you expect from a bunch of street shitters

The "street shitters" aren't the problem. They're the people with zero opportunity. Arguing the "American dream" is disappearing is one thing, with seemingly less and less chance to advance from poverty, but those people have nothing, no chance.

The caste system is found in the oldest scriptures of Hinduism. However, the caste system wasn't meant to be hereditary, it was supposed to be meritocratic. Each of the castes was said to be part of the entire organism of the people, and each was of importance.

Somewhere along the line, the top two tiers (the warriors and the priests) decided that "ah, fuck it, let's make it hereditary so that it will benefit us", or something shitty like that. And, well, that hasn't turned out so well, as can be seen in a lot of places in contemporary India where this caste shit is truly insulting to basic human decency (among other things).

There has been some research done with respect to genetic makeup of the various castes. Apparently, higher castes are genetically closer to East Europeans. Just google it.

There are like 1,000 different sub-castes and basically if you are born within a certain caste, you will never be anything different for your entire life. Even if you have the wealth of a much higher caste, you will still be considered part of the caste you were born in.
It's also tied to their religious beliefs. Specifically reincarnation. By doing good in this life, you could be born into a higher caste. The goal is to make your way to the top until you become part of the essence of the universe or something. You can also go down in the caste system during reincarnation so it's like a game.
