As for the circumstances of his death, I do specifically remember being a young teenager in America and hearing of this very evil person named "Pol Pot" who had totally escaped comeuppance and passed away peacefully in his sleep, lovingly surrounded by his family. That's the bullet-point spin I remember; this was just before the internet was a serious force in media. Wiki suggests more detail and theories about manner of death these days.
