>Who is your vote for most unlikeable person in history?
I vote Pol Pot, the guys policies seemed to have no good will in them, his personal life is shrouded in alot of mystery so you dont really get a feel for him as a person. I would vote Stalin a close second.
Pol Pot was nowhere near as crazy as people make him out. He just saw the lengths capitalist were willing to go to stop communism spreading in Vietnam.

He was.
But his ideology created one of the most important world civilizations.
A plague to the modern world though.
Michael Howard
He was literally the fucking Grinch, he near enough banned Christmas. He took religious conservatism to a new level, pretty much calling fun heresy and stomping on everybody's good time because he was an ugly autist. He wouldn't even let his own artist make him look nice in pictures. Not to mention he kind of tried to genocide the Irish.
Austin Scott
Are you some sort of fuckin commie?
Ryder Robinson
He did however decide to purge his armies after WW2 because he was worried about them having too much power, effectively killing the people who saved the country.
Jaxson Russell
>anyone who tries to genocide Irish >bad
Chase Wright
Fairfax was the better Republican leader. Plus Cromwell literally genocided Irish Catholics.
Jeremiah Morales
Only through Wahhabism and inter-sect violence. Shit wasn't even a problem before we carved up Afghanistan with the help of Russia. So if modern Islam is a plague of the modern world, western interventionism is certainly associated.
Remember, hill folk will always be hill folk. And Christianity got most of their bloody, inter-sect violence done way earlier, being an older religion and all.

I can't come up with a pick OTTOMH user, but I like the Pol Pot OP.
I did read just a little bit about him on wiki recently, and I noticed before you made this thread that there was nothing sympathetic in his personhood to latch onto, that I noticed at a skim anyway. Even the CCP presents a romantic image of actually Long-Marching and winning, eventually, hanging together. A mafia that still exists, if you will. A coherent, surviving brand.
Skimming the wiki again while preparing this post, I notice his (Pot's) academic failures and his privilege of French education, which he promptly visited back on his country. More opacity. Less bullet-point reasons to like. Confirmation bias, basically.
As for the circumstances of his death, I do specifically remember being a young teenager in America and hearing of this very evil person named "Pol Pot" who had totally escaped comeuppance and passed away peacefully in his sleep, lovingly surrounded by his family. That's the bullet-point spin I remember; this was just before the internet was a serious force in media. Wiki suggests more detail and theories about manner of death these days.
Zachary Richardson
Stalin wasn't unlikable, just aggressive.
Sources from the US and USSR suggest he was personable and generally affable, going so far as to jokingly bring flowers to an official who mistakenly believed he was about to be purged. He really was devoted to the socialist cause, but believed that imperialism was necessary to create a global socialist society.
Easton Fisher
Was he actually a socialist or just a Kim-style autocrat? From what I can tell, Pol Pot was only concerned with maximizing his own power.
Joshua Kelly
Cromwell was a shit but he helped prevent England from becoming Protestant ISIS
Liam Hall
That's not really right. He kept himself mostly hidden throughout the regime and attempted to build the opposite of a personality cult.
Blake Taylor
The only problem is if you fail to totally genocide a particular people they usually breed like rabbits afterwards >Total population: 70–80 million worldwide
Aiden Collins
So wouldn't that make him more likable than Stalin or the likes?
Alexander Peterson
I would expect that almost all of even the most justifiably hated and damaging people in all of human history were capable of compassion, almost everyone is. It doesn't mean anything.
Henry Foster
I'd probably agree with Pol Pot, or some obscure monarch from antiquity who was allowed to ruin his kingdom because of "muh divine right"
Prior to the 20th century it wasn't even feasible for one man to be responsible for halving his nation's population and dooming them to falling behind the curve in the geopolitical race to power forever. Really, what kind of fucking asshole kills off people with glasses because of suspicion that they'd be subversive intellectuals? Stalin, Mao, Chavez even the Kims have sympathetic qualities and did some modicum of good for their country.

Define "likable", because Stalin is loved at least ironically by dozens of millions. He was definitely charismatic and sympathetic despite all the shit he did.
Ian Williams
>Who is your vote for most unlikeable person in history?
Oskar Dirlewanger. Literally the worst person to ever have existed on this planet.
>"The unit was assigned to security duties first in German-occupied Poland (General Government), where Dirlewanger served as an SS-TV commandant of a labour camp at Stary Dzików. The camp was a subject of an abuse investigation by the SS judge Georg Konrad Morgen, who accused Dirlewanger of wanton acts of murder, corruption and Rassenschande or race defilement (Morgen consequently himself got reduced in rank and sent to the Eastern Front).[21] According to Morgen, "Dirlewanger was a nuisance and a terror to the entire population. He repeatedly pillaged the ghetto in Lublin, extorting ransoms." Atrocities committed by Dirlewanger included injecting strychnine into young Jewish female prisoners, previously undressed and whipped, to watch them convulse to death in front of him and his friends for entertainment.[22]"
>In January 1942, however, the local Higher SS and Police Leader, SS-Obergruppenführer Friedrich-Wilhelm Krüger threatened: "[Unless] this bunch of criminals disappears from the General Government within a week, I will go myself and lock them up."[29]
Yfw the guy was so fucking insane and cruel, that even the upper echelons of the SS wanted to remove him.

this won't get a response other than cartoon pigs

I don't agree tbqh. Because I sincerely doubt Stalin or Pol Pot personally injected strychnine into teenage women himself, just to watch them writhe to death.
While I agree that Stalin and Pol Pot were horrible people, it's hard to actually quantify evil deeds. I mean, I think evil can have different aspects.
Christian Ross
Honourable mentions: Christopher Columbus, Fransico Pizzaro and/or Herman Cortrez. By all accounts these guys were very unlikable, not even for SJW shit. Reading Columbus' diary paints an unpleasant picture of an egotistical and opportunistic prick who didn't give a shit about anybody but himself.
Josef Stalin though hands down. He's even fucking worse than Western history teaches. I will never understand how he was able to command such loyalties from the military and politburo despite wronging so many across so many different stratas.
Isaiah White
>my butt totally isn't hurt
Landon Brooks
Is personally killing someone as bad as indirectly killing 1000 people, in equally or more severely gruesome ways? "Evil" which is in itself a heinously emotional layman term of course cannot be measured objectively, but you can look at the fate of the lands chewed up by unpleasant men like these. The most parched, damaged soil is the one to which the most "evil" has been inflicted, all things otherwise equal.
Russia, Germany, Central Europe and China all have a reasonably high standard of living, while Cambodia is a third world shithole. Therefore, one can crudely measure that Pol Pot was the worst leader and the most generally destructive person of those being considered.
Oliver Johnson
>Honourable mentions: Christopher Columbus Columbus was actually against native exploitation. He mostly cared about him getting all the glory from finding the Garden of Eden, but he wasn't a monster of any kind. You can find such self-absorbed retards everywhere, from technology(Bob Widlar) to military(Luigi Cadorna).
Chase Edwards
You're right, I get upset at the existence of willfully ignorant morons such as yourself. I really wish people like you didn't exist, or at least they had the self-awareness to overcome their deluded ways, but that's not possible so I'm left with them shitting up this world for everyone else.
Aaron Richardson
The only moron here is the guy who can't even tell what made him butthurt in my post.
Matthew Bailey
I agree that he has caused overall more harm.
But someone like Oskar Dirlewanger makes me squirm more, I have to say.
Ian Nelson
When you list *Obama* as among the "most evil people in history," I can already tell exactly what sort of person you are.
Ayden Evans
There is no shortage of mentally deranged drug-fueled fuckups in the historical record, Dirlewanger only had the fortune to be supplied with an outlet in a fashion that was more conducive to mass death than someone like Dahmer was. Without WWII he would have been bagged for chopping up prostitutes in an alley.
Brayden Baker
He's a hidden Shia plant m8, he helped Iran to get the international community sedated and work on their nukes in concealment.
Shias believe that you can speed up the coming of Mahdi, you just have to create apocalyptical conditions, that's why you should never let Shia muslims near WMD's(all muslims to be honest but Shiites are especially retarded when it comes to this stuff).
Billions of people are going to die because of his hidden agenda.
Julian Fisher
>ctrl f >no Ivan the Terrible
Also, I'd like to put forth Gengis Khan and Napoleon. Gengis for the untold millions he brought apocalyptic suffering to and Napoleon for meglomaniacal control that caused a lot of suffering for pretty much no justifiable reason
>inb4 Khan was great to people who submitted
True, but that doesn't change the millions of innocents whose slaughtered he condoned or directly participated in.
Ethan Sanchez
B-but Sunnis did 9/11...
Liam Long
No idea, but it sure as hell wasn't any leader like Pol Pot. He may have been the most HORRIBLE person in history, but if he was genuinely UNLIKABLE, he would never have achieved what he did.
Ryder Peterson
Because Shiites feel that it's shameful to even walk on the infidel's soil. They fund a lot of terrorist organisations in areas where there are some Shia minorities, think Lebanon or Syria.
Iran by itself is basically bound to fire a nuke into Israel once they'll get one because they're ruled by batshit insane clergy living in their own world and they know that the best way to speed Mahdi up is to start nuclear Armageddon
Sunnis in comparison, want to "just" kill the infidels. Which is why they engage into terrorism outside of middle-east.
Grayson Ramirez
>muh 100 gorillion
Juan James
How the fuck is he a Shia implant? His father was a Sunni, for Gods sake
Dominic Perry
Sure, but I still find it slightly more disturbing that a person is capable of doing things like that with their own actions, while giving an order is something anyone can do.
Presumably Barack Obama is what we would call a normally moral person, and yet he orders probably several people to be drone striked a week.
Andrew Brooks
Iran isn't actually building nukes dumby. What 99% of people fail to realise is that the CIA has never explicitly stated that Iran is building nukes and all those scientists the Mossad keeps killing? No proof either that they are working on nukes.
America is just terrified that Iran may get nukes and shift the balance of power away from the American-Israel-Saudi domination of the region - EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO PROOF THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING
After Iraq, I figured Americans would have fucking learned to give international intelligence agencies claiming an international pariah has WMDs a skeptical side eye but fuck we just can't help ourselves can we?
Wyatt Mitchell
FDR
Nolan Hughes
He had and has more contacts with shiites though.
For muslims picking different sect of islam is not really favourable but it isn't heavily discouraged either, outside of Saudi Arabia and other places like this. So muslims are typically the part of the sect they have most contact with, fund Salafi mosque near some muslim minority and they'll be all Salafists, fund Shia mosque and they'll be shias which is how Wahhabism has spread.
Carson Sanders
Agreed. He truly was the only ruler in history (that I'm aware of) who actually wanted to abolish all forms of fun.

>irish genocide meme
You know that's actually fact right? The Irish confederacy allied with the fleeing Royalists who hid in Ireland. The people he killed were overwhelmingly English soldiers and a few locally raised militias of Irish citizens. The reason it was so fucking bad is that is disrupted farming and resulted in a famine as well as an outbreak of bubonic plague.
The English didn't genocide the fucking Irish. Pure fucking fantasy.
