Jiang Jieshi as well as other warlords during the warlord era. I like reading about their policies and how they were successful but fall flat because of their ambitions.

I am espesally found of Yuan Shikai, but there are sadly non expansive biographies about him.

...

Not to be edgy, but its got to be Hitler. He went from homelessness to becoming the most controversial person in history who changed the world forever.

adolf, to be honest.
>besides the emperor he has greatest cultural background
>actually fought in WWI
>his ideas were almost noble
>from zero to hero

this

Anyone not saying Hitler is just being a hipster.

The question should be "Which 20th century non-Hitler dictator is the most fascinating to you?", otherwise there's no point.

Kim Il Sung and Ho Chih Minh.

The former because how the fuck did he leave behind such shit offspring, and Ho because how in the everloving fuck did America ostracize him.

I mean, he was a fucking Burgerboo during WW2.

throwup between hitler and lenin

both were at the heads of arguably the two most important political movements in the 20th century

hitler has a cooler story, though lenins escapades while the bolsheviks were underground are still pretty interesting.

lenin also has actually (somewhat) relevant thought to todays world, hitler is now at the bottom of the dustbin of history.

also the soviet union survived a lot longer than lenin while the 3rd reich died with hitler

i would argue the nazis were aesthetically more interesting than teh bolsheviks, but their goal was pretty dull, lots of people have wanted to rule the world. What the bolsheviks wanted was technically the same but the revolutionary uprising and workers government is a lot more interesting that just 'hurr durr we gonna conquer the slavs'

>and Ho because how in the everloving fuck did America ostracize him.

Well it was quite obviously because the US foreign policy was to continue support of the French colonial administration in Indochina after WW2.

>all atheists

Hitler was Christian.

No.

nice meme

>not realizing there were and are countless religious dictators
>not realizing many dictators try to get rid of the organized religions because they want no competition from Popes/Imams/Patriarchs controlling the people
>inb4 you will reply with more cherry picking and denial, the two cornerstones of magic thinking
kek

It's almost as if it was mainly against the Catholic Church as a political and social rival, not against Christianity as a whole because of actual religious reasons.

shhh, logic makes baby jesus cry.

Which wasn't even true all the time. When it was convenient Nazis and Catholic fascist collaborated wholeheartedly. Off the to of my head the French, Belgian, Croatian were mostly conservative Roman Catholics.

>"Pure Christianity - the Christianity of the catacombs -is concerned with translating the Christian doctrine into facts. It leads quite simply to the annihilation of mankind. It is merely whole-hearted Bolshevism, under a tinsel of metaphysics"

-the Christian Hitler

Does he count?

10 million. Or are monarchs not counted?

Hirohito has no real power.

Monarchs are technically not dictators.

>Pinochet
>Anything but an uneducated puppet controlled by both the USA and his greedy wife
Gross desu

mao II

Hitler believed in a divine power. Hirohito and Tojo seem to have as well, since the legitimacy of the emperor is divine.
Pol Pot, Kim Il Sung, Mao, Stalin, Lenin are all commie faggots first and foremost and atheists in an afterthought. Atheism is not a believe system but a lack thereof, retard.

I find this hardass quite fascinating. The 'hero' Korea needed at that time.

Also not quite 20th Century, I mean he died 1908 (I think?)

The Belgians only stopped after he died. So they were very much active before his death.

Yes I know, what I meant is that he barely made it into the 20th Century, I'd more classify him as a 19th century monarch.

...

>he was a fucking Burgerboo during WW2.

Burgerboo != hating Japanese occupiers more than Americans promising arms support

>Win Civil War in 30s
>Completely reverse an attempted Marxist/Social liberal takeover
>Survive WW2 despite being friendly with the fascist regimes of the day
>Become USA's greatest ally against gommunism :DD
>Turn Spain from a war-torn rural shithole with financial problems into a relatively modern and industrial country without financial problems for a couple decades
>Rule into the 1970s until peaceful death in sleep
>Be the only fascist-esque regime to survive WW2
>Peacefully transition rule back to monarchy
>Remain loved by country as a benevolent dictator

Antonio Salazar. An academic in charge of a country for 30+ years.

>Remain mocked by country as a source of jokes.

There, fix'd it for you, user.

>Remain loved by country
niggawat

>>Completely reverse an attempted Marxist/Social liberal takeover

No

>Remain loved by country as a benevolent dictator
Kek
Have you actually spoken to any Spaniards at all

I've come to think that was an intended clever rustling of jimmies all along

What did you expect in a thread about dictators?

Unser führer: Adolf Hitler, Sieg heil

Fidel Castro, no one comes even close
He got away with everything
He laid about 35.000 women
His takeover of Venezuela was a masterpiece and will be studied in the next centuries

Hitler, obviously. All the others are cut-and-dry evil. Hitler was only 75% evil.
Pinochet was cool, though.

I've noticed snarky circle-jerk responses like these from a lot of atheists, is there a reason for it?
you add nothing to the topic

difficult to accept but actually yes

All of the Iberian dictators were the best ones.

Primo de Rivera.

Fuck Franco.

Lee Kwan Yew

They were both more or less the same type of leaders

Wow - people still fall for this one. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichskonkordat

Just call him Chiang Kai-Shek user.

Nobody uses Pinyi to talk about him

He wasn't Christian and is now experiencing eternal damnation.

They were all dictators?

...

by most standards here, yes.

He doesn't fascinate me but what is fascinating about him is how he is considered by some as a radical antistatist while actually being a dictator.

This one.

You should check out Stanley Payne's definition of fascism, he does some interesting stuff in terms of separating right-wing authoritarian movements which would suggest those groups weren't actually fascist, but instead (no less nasty) conservative authoritarians.
I think we often forget the huge influence fascism had upon politics on this period, which meant that a lot of organisations willing adopted a kind of "fascist veneer" but weren't necessarily fascist, and it stretches the definition of fascism (swallowing lots of other movements) to make them appear as such.

>Man, the fallible.
>Man, munition of the Father.
>Man, ever in charge of following the Word to the Tee.

And this why you have a doctrine of salvation, forgive and forget. Hitler wronged.

Hitler ain't got nothin' on the real genocidal Prussian reactionary.

The only reason that the Allies didn't overthrow Salazar was the power of the commie opposition in Portugal, and that they owed him for basically pimping his country out for money during the war.

Franco didn't get his ass invaded because the Soviets and the Americans both couldn't stand the other taking control of Spain, so he remained silently in his corner the entire Cold War.

True

See He's in hell.

he looks like Aaron Paul

Easy OP, the Perfect Dictatorship, pic related.

>“My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded
by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian
and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the
Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was his fight against the Jewish poison. Today, after two thousand years, with
deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed his blood upon the Cross. As
a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice… And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly, it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people. And when I look on my people I see them work and work and toil and labor, and at the end of the week they have only for their wages wretchedness and misery. When I go out in the morning
and see these men standing in their queues and look into their pinched faces, then I believe I would be no Christian, but a very devil, if I felt no pity for them, if I did not, as did our Lord two
thousand years ago, turn against those by whom today this poor people are plundered and exposed.”

>“The National Government will regard it as its first and foremost
duty to revive in the nation the spirit of unity and cooperation. It will preserve and defend those basic principles on which our nation
has been built. It regards Christianity as the foundation of our
national morality, and the family as the basis of national life….”

Eait it, christfags. He was a zealot. Whether or jesus would accept him is a different story.

Codreanu and Degrelle by far.
Dollfuss too.

idi amin. They say Hitler was crazy but he wasn't crazy like idi amin was.

This guy literally did nothing wrong
Sadly noone cares about him

So underrated
he would have restored the mongol empire if not for the fucking commies

>controls the economy even more than the socialists before him did
>economy flourishes
>it's a laissez-faire miracle!

disagree

Hitler was not Christian.

Lmao Christ cuck is that the only defense you have left top kek

WITH GREAT MARSHAL TITO!!!

Mussolini.

Himmler (due to his esotericism and him basically being a "nerd" of his day and age) is more fascinating than Hitler.

But Mussolini ... he had a very special kind of aesthetics, of body language and the way Futurism and a reactionary view on the Roman Empire have influenced Italian Fascism (also their views on race that were more "esoteric" than the "scientific" view on race of the Nazis) makes them more interesting than the dull Germans.

Hitler and Mussolini

Hitler
>rags to riches story
>failed artist turned edgy philosopher
>lived in interesting times of great social upheaval
>a savant like mind ruined by great narcissism

Mussolini
>socialist turned fascist
>used the power of the media (poppolo d'italia) to further his own ambitions
>siezed power in a coup
>grand plans and hard worker
>ruined by austrian narcissist

>>>/helsinki/

Kekkonen did nothing wrong
