I think that the pics posted with a solid background color are not necessarily bad.
I like the chosen pictures in
but the problem with them is that they all base on the same boring concept, take a pic and place in the middle.
The color in is not appealing at all. It's rather dull and muddy and does not go well with the pic.
But just because it's boring conceptually, does not mean it looks bad, rather I think and are rather appealing to look at.
