Japanese fashion is so heavily based on Americana and ripping off Euro fast fashion that it isn't even worth respecting. Everyone wears boring uniqlo-core trash which looks good in the same way generic prep-ivy looks good but gets boring as fuck real fast. Only 'fashion' in japan is some loose fits and traditional stuff, but this doesn't compete with the fashion of numerous EU countries and even parts of America

Japan is as described, is decent 'fashion' for average people but lacks the personality that America and Europe have since older and more distinct styles of Japanese fashion aren't in style so they just rip off other countries and end up looking like a mall catalog

Korea is like Japan but with more American influnece from what I saw in the younger people

Chine is like these two but it feels far tackier, although I've only been to one place in China so my view is limited

Japan's ancient history is very romanticist and tend to favour looks over practicality. Seriously just look at a traditional Japanese house compared to a European one. This mentality reflects on their fashion sense even today and that's why so many anons lists it as no.1 It's definitely just as old and diverse as western ones. Cant speak for Koreans and Chinese

Japanese people dress better on average than most other countries, they consume the most luxury brands, they have developed styles that are unique to different parts of the country. Mostly Japanese people understand what makes a quality garment and how to work with proportions, layering, structure, draping, etc properly. They might dress 'boring' but most people dress boring anywhere. You'll find just an many unique dressers in Japan as else where, it's just on average they know how to dress for their bodies and proportions on a more natural level than the average American.

French people also have this natural ability to just get how to work with their bodies and proportions, colours, etc.
