Do electric razors actually work well? If so, what should I look for in one?

Do electric razors actually work well? If so, what should I look for in one?

No. Get a double edge. You can find good ones on ebay for ~$70 that are vintage but in great shape. It's a worthwhile investment. (+blades are cheap nowadays)

not for facial hair

why not just buy a new one at the store?

Find an online store specialising in this. Good DE razors are not expensive anyway

Yes, the philips norelco oneblade is the best electric razor ive ever used and its cheap too. Its the closest youll ever get with an electric razor

this
electric razors are a meme some companies invented so they can charge you more money

wet shaving is extremely tedious, electric razors provide a close shave with a lot less hassle

yes they do work. just read some reviews like on the wirecutter and buy one that doesnt have a bunch of features you don't need. Depending on how your hair is it may or may not be that much worse a shave than with a manual. Most electric razors have a really long return period, because your face needs to adjust to using it, so theres not really any risk involved in trying one

I've used a few different ones, they don't work that well in my experience.
Like other anons have said just get a DE.

They range from super shitty to quite excellent. Look for electric razors made in Japan or Germany from Panasonic or Braun.

they work well enough. I have that one on the far left of your pic, I like the foil types. Plain razors get closer but not enough for me to care. I'd rather shave in a stupor and be done, don't wanna deal with water / shaving cream in the morning.

I have a Norelco 5000, similar to the 2nd from left. Works very well. I'll never go back to the hassles of any sort of blade/shaving creme combo. That's just a scam to suck $$$ out of your wallet. You can use the Norelco dry, or wet. Even with shaving creme, but I don't know why you'd do that. Plus, you never cut yourself.

Huh? I would say only for facial hair. I'm a faget who shaves everything and the quickest / easiest method has been disposable razors with soap in the shower. Faster than electric since I'm already in the shower soaping up, and the large smooth areas don't often get knicks unlike the face

I've never had one that worked as well. I use them for body hair, but you'll literally never get a good shave on your face

I have a braun that works great

much more convenient than a manual razor

u use it dry or with foam?

This is the best shaving purchase of my life

Dry

I used to shave with an electrical one, but got shit scared/embarrassed one morning when i woke up at my girls house with my whole neckbeard got ingrown zits. Never close shaved again

fuck off philips pr department

IMO every male needs an electric clipper for general grooming and a double edge safety for when you actually need to shave something.

Shaving to skin level with an electric razor however will often cause bumps, irritation and even if it doesn't - will never be as easy or smooth as using a razor.

"Any fool can criticize, complain, and condemnand most fools do."

dont just criticise without giving us an alternativ

i agree that those two posts sound like shills
but what is in your opinion the best budget electric razor on the market?
