What was the best dynasty and why was it undeniably the Tang?

Song Dynasty best Dynasty.

Nice stable dynasty you've got there.

Shame if....somebody was to challenge its rule out of the blue.

I genuinely think the years 300-900 were the pinnacle of humanity and we will never recover to those heights.

Song Dynasty pre-Mongolian rapefest was probably comfier to live in with more advanced arts and sciences. Tang Dynasty was just classic China, the pre-eminent power of its region with a rich culture but wracked by terrible internal conflict. With the Song, a more ideal society was strived for albeit it was not without its problems.

This is the Han Dynasty at its greatest extent.

And this is the Tang at its greatest extent.

I wouldn't mind living in Chang'an during height of the Tang.

Technically the Shang Dynasty isn't part of the Imperial Dynasties, if that is what is OP is after.

Without the Qin dynasty, there would be no Han, or Tang.

The Han dynasty was also ancient China's first golden age.
