Swiss neutrality is prob a meme.

Because nobody gave a shit about it, just like all the neutral meme countries.

they had to stay neutral since they need good relations with other countries to survive

and since their country is a natural fortress it's pretty easy to maintain it.

>Swiss "neutrality"

The other buffer state, Belgium, is easier to conquer.

Hard to invade a country that is mostly mountains, that's why the Nazis couldn't invade Switzerland

Because you can easily go around it, instead of wasting time and resources trying to occupy some mountains.

The Nazis didn't invade Switzerland because they had no reason to
Or maybe you think they were so Disney vilain who wanted to conquer the world?

Switzerland isn't hard to invade, it's a meme
The French invaded in it in a few weeks in 1798

Just because they have a massive army ready to defend their country doesn't mean they're not neutral. Just like Theodore Roosevelt's quote, "Speak softly, and carry a big dick".

>building a large military makes you aggressive

>wearing armor makes you aggressive

You don't seriously think this is the actual reason do you?

Nobody has any reason to invade them and they have no reason to invade others. Over time the neutrality thing became part of the culture. The terrain helps.

I also think that it helps that Swiss culture is a combination of its neighbors, so keeping good relations with them must be easy.

>Nobody has any reason to invade them

this, it holds little strategic valuve is a pain in the ass to attack, and is easily circumnavigated

plus if you know noone is going to attack you, you arent going to start attacking people

It's substantially more than just that.
>"National counsellor Remo Gysin has described the relations between the Swiss stay-behind, MI6 and NATO as "notorious"."
>"some of its members took paramilitary and guerrilla warfare training courses with the MI6 in Great Britain."
>"Swiss military instructor Alois Hürlimann revealed that he had taken part in secret military training in England, which he said included a real assault on an Irish Republican Army (IRA) arms depot, in which at least one IRA terrorist was killed."
>"According to researches by Swiss historian Mauro Mantovani, Montgomery met again Montmollin in February 1952 to discuss plans in case of a Soviet invasion. They agreed that in case of an emergency, Switzerland would need help from NATO, leading Mantovani to conclude that: "Switzerland during the Cold War was so obviously part of the western camp that western leaders could only wish that all neutrals would take Switzerland as an example.""
>"The purchase of the Harpoon equipment linked to NATO command centres in Brussels, the CIA in the US, and MI6 in Great Britain realised the integration of the Swiss stay-behind in the European stay-behind network at a very basic, hardware level."

>Switzerland makes plans to seek foreign aid if invaded
>no obligation to involve themselves in foreign wars
>this isn't neutrality

We all like you here.

You don't have to try hard to show us how smart you are.

>Nobody has any reason to invade them
>Ignoring trillions upon trillions of dollars in gold and currency reserves

Mountains

If you can't see how that kind of hand-in-glove cooperation, no matter how justified, with the overarching military alliance and leading intelligence services of one opposing bloc against another is in contravention to the principle of neutrality, that isn't anyone's fault but yours.

In addition to what every one else has said, I would addthat Switzerland has been a center of mercenary activity for centuries, so much so that during the Italian Wars they said that Swiss could not fight Swiss. They have also maintained a fair amount of independence, enough so that few nations would consider Switzerland some sort of irredenta.

Then, of course, there's the banking industry, which made it in everyone's best interests if Switzerland remained neutral in the 20th century and still makes them unenthusiastic about the euro.

>Since 1815
Bug deal, Switzerland has many more interesting things going for it, like its location between France, Germany, and Italy, and its unique culture because of it

I never said Switzerland wasn't interesting fampai, I just wanted to discuss its neutrality.

That's before the whole population had a fuckton of guns and an intricate system of bunkers all over the mountains. Nowadays and back when Nazi Germany was invading everything around them it would be a lot a harder.

General good relations with all its neighbours and good relations globally.

Doesn't really take sides often in political matters

Well respected army that nobody really wants to waste supplies fighting

Geographical defences that pretty much trump Amy large army advantages

They are basically a giant bank, you don't fuck with banks.

Many bigger and more strategically valuable nations around it that like to fight more.

>Or maybe you think they were so Disney vilain who wanted to conquer the world?
They at least totally wanted to conquer Switzerland. They just saw no reason to during the war.

Swiss terrain makes it very difficult.

Swiss are also filthy collaborators. They'll handle your money, or let you pass through. So long as you don't bother them.
