What are Veeky Forums's favorite books?

I encourage Fashion related but any books are fine

No better way to flex your outfit by sitting in a populated area reading a book

Reading in populated areas is a good way to pic up Art Hoes. Art Hoes are dumb but lots of them enjoy reading.

A gal will feel drenched in attention and importance if you interrupt your reading to look up at her and say hello

Become an Alpha

my current read is ABC's of men's fashion by sir Hardy Amies. Very nice book if you're going for a contemporary, classic style, which I am.

I'll definitely check it out thank you

that sounds lame

I must admit, sometimes i deliberately read this book in public because of how badass it looks lol

It is also a genuinely incredible book, one of the most important of the 20th century

But dude look at that fuckin cover.... aestheeetic

Existentialism

Camus' description of 1940s Oran and Dr Rieux and his friends really appealed to me.

even with the whole plague thing going on it was so comfy.

lmao you guys are all faggot virgins, pic related is the GOAT

It really was.

>tfw no idealist friend like Jean Tarrou to go swimming in the sea with at night
Feels VERY bad.

me and my friends go swimming in the sea at night very often in the summer. We even got a couple of qts to come "swim" with us one time.

>We even got a couple of qts to come "swim" with us one time.

By swim do you mean drown? You killed them, didn't you.

The preppy handbook?

>Camus
my nigga. the plague is awesome, stranger is one of my favorite books of all time, I'm reading the fall atm, but I'm not really getting into its writing style so far.

for me the style of writing was the best part

Philosophy is a good start. None of that continental shit though, focus on Wittgenstein, Russell and co. (Mostly a joke, my professors are analytic)

Also anything by Steinbeck is ace, East off Eden being top-tier.

art of the deal

Veeky Forums told me to start with the greeks

INFINITE JEST

Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations

Heidegger's Poetry, Language, Thought

For edge:

Debord's Society of the Spectacle

Benjamin's Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction

Phenomenology of Spirit
any chad continental philosophy works though
>heidegger
>kierkegaard
>foucault
>derrida
>debord
>deleuze
>lacan
any witty besides the tractatus

reading this starting today how good is it?

>debord
>deleuze
>lacan

my nigga.
the three most badass frenchmen who ever lived.

Don't bother. If you're an actually intelligent person you'll get bored after the first few pages. It's cushy bourgeois shite that appeals to sycophantic losers who listen to NPR and actually drove out to New York to attend "He will not divide us".

If you want an actually good book that covers a similar subject matter, read Naked Lunch

really nice both on the outside and on the inside

Anna Karenina, Bros K,, Master and Margarita, basically anything by russians.

Proust, if you don't mind modernism.

Ulysses if you want people to think you're actually reading Dan Brown book inside Ulysses covers.

Fuck It

I will read both

i love it. the writing style takes some getting used to, helps if you've read some of DFW's work before. it can be kind of incoherent in the beginning but keep going and you'll come to understand more and more.

I'm from Algeria
I live in Oran

Yes but are you a french-algerian doctor?

(that's pretty cool though, how is the city nowadays?)

>falling for Marxism propaganda

lol what good are them analytics? adds nothing to your experience of life. leave the analytic philosophy to the professional philosophers

pleats please

>having a problem with a ruthless critique of everything existing

>(((critique)))

This is a board where people think paying $3000+ for gimmicky AF1's is OK. I think any book I can recommend would go way over anyone ITT's head.

Doesn't matter. Would fuck either way.

>and on the inside
> plotwist the font is just REALLY nice

if you aint got the this in your library get the fuck off the board whats more effay than this ?

This is next on my commie reading list. What am I in for?

>This is next on my commie reading list. What am I in for?

CERTAINLY NOT COMMUNISM...

DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IS COMMUNISM? I DOUBT IT.

THE THIRD UNIVERSAL THEORY IS LIBYAN NATIONAL SOCIALISM.

okey sorey
what am i in for tho

Anyone else here into gothic literature? Books like the castle of otranto, uncle Silas, the monk, or vathek?

i dont post on Veeky Forums that much anymore and usually lurk but im sure none of my books are "fashionable"

So here's a recent stacc of books I just purchased.

and here's books i've had for a while. My favorite? Confederacy of Dunces. The most recent book I've finished? Hell's Angels and not pictured The Greatest My own story Muhammed Ali.

take ivy is pretty aaaiiggghhtt

Isn't the Metamorphosis like 40 pages? how is your copy so thicc

yeah i mean I don't consider it an actual BOOK like, its a picture book if anything. I love the New England WASP style, especially living in New England.

i have yet to read this yet! But i guess i have a copy that has extra shit in it.

same, heres my stack

yes anything by vonnegut is top tier

also just finished house of leaves this morning

PSYCHOSIS 4.48
:^)

nothing more /f/a than reading edgy plays in pub

NATIONAL SOCIALISM DISGUISED AS "DEMOCRACY" TO APPEAL TO THE MEDIOCRE MAJORITY.

Shoutout to the Saul Bellow; I'm in the middle of Herzog and I highly recomend it if you like his style.

Yikes! what a snoozefest
My copy at least has Penal Colony and some other short stories

You can probably finish the Metamorphosis in about an hour. It took me around that long when I to read the english translation when I was in hs and I needed about 2 for the German version a few years back

STOP WRITING IN ALL CAPS, YOU ANNOYING FUCK

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA ayn rand

>Started pic related in fucking August
>Halfway through book 4
why am I so dumb :(

Whats funny user? I read it out of curiosity, I got to 200 pages and stopped reading. Im not a fan of Ayn Rand's prose. Also I feel like I understood what shes was trying to get at 200 pages in. I don't mind long books, what I do mind are shitty written books

I read atlas shrugged in its entirety, and it made me a communist.

Any books about actual Veeky Forums related shit?

You're not, It's hard to pick out that the main thing he wanted was a harmonious society that could only be achieved through justice being adequately served. Also read over the Allegory of the Cave numerous times, it truly is one of the most beautiful sections ever written.

Favourite is probably The Forgotten Soldier by Guy Sajer. Whether or not it really is a true story, it's still a good read. I love firsthand accounts from the second world war.

Currently reading Kursk: The Greatest Battle by Lloyd Clark, and Hitler's Hangman by Robert Gerwarth.

i also read this ^_^

Excellent choice, but I'd never read it in public, it needs your full attention

>how to think like a kike
Jews might be powerful but they aren't alpha.

books I've read in the last half of 2017 and that I plan to read in the first half of 2018. How normie do you think I am?

>mfw i read infinite jest but didn't read the endnotes

Am currently reading Slaughterhouse Five. So far I'm loving it.

Next on the reading list will be anything about phenomenology, and philosophy of time in general, as I've worked on it before.

Either Kierkegaard or Heidegger, since I know a bit about their work, or anything else if someone has an Veeky Forums suggestion

How’s my current stack?

as a 3rd year philo major, i approve

Postmodern shit is terrible and factually inaccurate. Kys

>still believing in “facts”
lmaoing @ ur life

pathetic lmao

approve me being normie or having a decent taste?

i only read history and art books for the most part.

idk if it's Veeky Forums but it makes hard to talk books with people but i read what i want.

Reading Greek tragedy is Veeky Forums as fuck

Wearing earth tones, "unkept" hairstyle and glasses is the combo to go with alongside reading

are you a curator or something

no just a regular guy. its just what im into. trying to branch out a bit though.

i approve of your decent taste as a normie

also very nice

She was beautiful.

Is the Monocle Guide to Better Living any good?

>Monocle guide to living any good?

Yeah, is it? I saw it in the store, but it was plastic wrapped.

'Fevre Dream' is a decent book, haven't been reading a lot lately though.

I really want to start reading 'One Thousand and One Nights', in Arabic if possible. Thoughts about the book?

Fanged Noumena or 2666

>twenty books on art and history
>a curator
What. That´s a normal amount of books to have on a subject you have an interest in.
