What did he mean by this.

Quidam viri nascuntur, Aquilam ventilare facti
O, sunt et rubri et albi et aurei!
Et quando chorus sic canit: "Ave, Caesar"
O, ballistas vertunt ad te, Iuppiter.

>Doesn't rhyme

I out of X, see me after class.

>P. Vergilius Maro scripsit

Mihi is Dative

So, "NON EST ME" ("ME" accusative of "EGO") would be correct?

No, the English "me" in the song is nominative

Er... no.

"Me" is the accusative form of "I" (nominative), thus, the "me" in "It isn't me" can't be nominative.

Isn't it the oblique case?

idem

It would be non sum me, since it is in the 1st person

Nope.

"SUM" means "am".

>Go to amphitheater to take in the reading of new poem about the Carthaginian invasion.
>the minstrels start playing "Ego No Sum"
>mfw

>>the minstrels start playing "Ego No Sum"
>"Ego No Sum"

Are you an idiot, or you just didn't bother to read before posting?

Ad Aquilam ventilandam facti*

Is an infinitive wrong there?

This thread makes me think about the "Romances eunt Domus" joke from Monty Python.

Ad vexillum proponendum quidam nati sunt,
Eheu, rubra, alba, et caerulea sunt,
Et cum musici "Ave Caesar" canunt,
Eheu, cannonem in te, domine, derigunt

Non ego, non ego,
Non senatoris filius sum,
Non ego, non ego,
Non fortunatullus sum

Argenteo in manibus cocleari quidam nati sunt,
Domine, non seipsos adiuvant, euhoe,
Sed cum publicanus ad portas venit,
Domine, domus similis auctioni videtur, ha

Non ego, non ego,
Non millionaris filius sum,
Non ego, non ego,
Non fortunatullus sum

Heia, heia,
Quidam oculos stellis hereditant punctatos,
Eheu, ad bellum te submittunt, domine,
Et cum rogas, "Quantum daremus?"
Eheu, solo "magis, magis, magis" respondunt

Non ego, non ego, non filius militaris sum,
Non ego, non ego, non fortunatullus sum,
Non ego, non ego, non fortunatullus sum

why is there always a motherfucker pointing at the battle

At least he's pointing at the right direction.

lol I made that thread

>soldier has so much ptsd that he starts firing in the wrong fucking direction because he thinks the enemies are everywhere

>Ballistas that close to the gates
Fucking Legates

"Shit did you just see Bobimus fall off the fucking wall?!"

>mfw Bobimus died

that's not how it works. english doesn't really work with cases but with position in sentence so a simple identification produces the oblique case although it shouldn't be.
latin is much more strict with cases though, so you can only use ego, or else it's just plain wrong.
"its not me" would be something like "non sum is", assuming this "its not me" is like in the phrase "its not me who does X" because to introduce such a relative clause in latin you would write "non is sum qui X facio".

it should be "non id sum." Also, I always thought of the use of "me" in "it's not me" as an instance of an emphatic form (cf. French ce n'est pas moi).

nah man, that "it" in the english sentence is an english specific thing, it's not universal. of course it's emphatic, but so is "non sum is", or "non sum ea" if you are a girl, for that matter. if you say "non sum id" you are saying that you are neither male nor female and that just doesn't fit the sentence. german also uses "es" in inpersonal sentences but that's germanic.
>inb4 but french does it too
they got it from the franks.
