itt: post an "obscure" event/era (no "muh d-day") in history that you'd like to see films about, and other anons make recommendations (if such films exist)
I am curious if there are any (ideally, English subbed) films about...
>the "H" "R" "E" >austria-hungary >eastern front combat in WWI >interwar central/eastern europe
I want to see a movie set in 18th century Brazil desu
Carter Walker
The break up of Yugoslavia The Cuban Revolution from the side of anyone but Che Guevara. The Russo Japanese war The House of Wisdom. The Retreat from Kabul The life of Arkan
The war of the triple alliance (Oscar bait tearjerker for sure) The Birth of the Russian Mafia in the gulags The Iran Contra Affair (million documentaries no film) The life of Scipio the Russian revolution
Nathaniel Reyes
>austria-hungary Aren't there at least a half dozen wank movies about Sissi?
Andrew Morales
>the Russian revolution >Obscure >No movies about it
Granted, all of them are shit because it's either muh glorious October or muh ruined Empire but Russkies pumped out a whole lot of those.
Anthony Hernandez
I should've clarified, I'm more interested in the life of non-royalty/nobility.
Eli Bennett
I'd love to see Geoffrey of Monmouth's History of the Kings of Britain turned into a TV series. The meme magic would be unbelievable
Henry Clark
Good Soldier Svejk had several movies so there's that.
Samuel Roberts
>>eastern front combat in WWI

Carter Mitchell
film about the Crusade(s) (any crusade or all of them idc) without fantasy or fiction and without bias against the Church and Christians
and 2nd, Roman Empire as historically accurate as it gets (any war/campaign) as long as it isnt just a giant game-of-thrones-tier drama
Anything depicting the ordinary life in ancient/middle ages. Not some cliche stereotyped bullshit, but an accurate depiction.
Nathan Morgan
The Troubles Korean War Seven Years' War British colonization of India Rhodesian Bush War, or any conflict in Africa from the 70's and 80's
Brody Torres
I want Rome in the 12th century
David Hall
>troubles
50 Dead Men Walking and '71 are two of the best known ones, but there are lots of movies about the Troubles lad. '71 creates the atmosphere of it extremely well whislt showing that both sides had good people, while 50DMW accurately shows the element of fear even amongst irish catholics from the IRA.
I would like to see the events leading to the Battle of Tara, and eventually Clontarf. Clontarf is the one everyone knows, but Tara has been argued to be the far more important one-and seems to be more hype since most records detail that the Irish were outnumbered.
Regardless, it'd be cool to see.
Connor Bailey
The Norman Conquest of England
Parker Brooks
Napoleon's invasion of Russia It's not that obscure, but there is no really good film about it
