Of course it's a Russian, lmao.

Хaхa

I still like this a lot, bought it last spring. Just wish it was thinner.

Anyone want to front me 12 grand?

Thoughts on Panda Speedy? Graduating uni in a few months and would like to pick up a Speedy as a gift.

Why are wristwatches such a meme chad accessory? Even in porn the guy will be butt ass naked but have a giant wrist fedora on.

Since when you watch haters call them a “chad meme”? Weren’t they “wrist fedoras”?

Чтo?

Ignore that and explain my original question. Why are people drawn so into big gaudy wrist watches? Who even uses wrist watches anymore? Do you need to adorn every part of your body with something fashionable?

>Why are people drawn so into big gaudy wrist watches?
That’s just normies and their trends nowadays. Real watch people do love rather small and understated mechanical watches. I personally only wear

that's not a current bezel, what is the story of this one ?

Rolex Thunderbird from 03' with 18k white gold bezel

Name?

This is my watch.

There are many watches like it, but this one is mine.

Never understood why are these watches so popular. Their designs are awfully ugly.

It’s a fake mishmash

They aren’t popular at all, it’s a meme. Go to any watch forum, he’ll go to the Russian brand wus forum and nobody talks about these.

Silver/blue?

Or silver/gold?

Definitely blue. The silver/gold looks too much like it's trying to be a Rolex, and a style of Rolex favored by fat old guys at that.

Speedy is always a fantastic choice. What makes you want to go with the Panda? Anything aside from the colour scheme?

Always preferred the normal configuration myself, though I wish I could get a hold of a cal. 321.

Congrats on graduation...you might want to hold off on getting a watch though unless you have a guaranteed job coming out.

I do like the normal one, the color scheme of the panda just caught my eye / differentiated it. Money isn't a huge issue, looking to spend max 4k and a family member might pitch in.

look up Rolex Thunderbird...google is your friend.

There are a number of variations of the Speedy...have you stopped by a dealer yet?
With the normal one you've got the traditional hesalite crystal vs. the sapphire sandwich, they have a 1957 reissue (sadly not with the original movement but simply with the original casing and numberical markers), there are different sizes, different movements (there's an automatic version with the co-axial...the proportions are slightly off on this one but it's still a good watch), and of course they have the one with extra complications (moon-phase and date). They've also got a brown faced speedmaster, and they have all the special issue Speedmasters as well (mission patches on the second-hand dial).

There's a lot to choose from. Not that the Panda is a bad choice, but for 4000 or under you've got a LOT of choice. If it sings to you when you put it on your wrist, then you know it's the right one...so try out a bunch and see what you think.

Also, if you go with the speedmaster make sure you buy it WITH the stainless steel bracelet. You can always buy a leather strap later on, but you don't want to get it with only a leather strap and then regret it and have to buy the bracelet after.

>my daily wear, but it's in the shop for servicing. Love the watch...but I hate servicing. Pain in the ass...

Speedys are the new SKX

The Panda looks a lot more like the Daytona

Where did you get the strap OP?

...

Servicing the automatics is a pain... specially considering the full service for the quartz version including the change of hands, crown, relume etc at Omega is like only 80€ every 4 years or so.

New bracelet for my everyday wear. I needed something more robust and easy to keep clean than leather.

Tissot Tradition Chronograph, default color and strap, there are few others.

What are you boys wearing today?

Jelly much

what is the doc marten of watches?

that is to say, what wristwatch completes the 80s British punk look?

F91

And its still too big for your wrist

...

thx i like it

so do you prefer quartz over auto ?
I'm a watchmaker, so I'm not judging, or maybe a little.

saving up for this

That's beautiful man...always loved that generation of Constellation.

Yeah, but it had to be done. I'm convinced the mainspring detached from the movement, so it wasn't working anyway. But Omega has been raising the price of servicing almost every 2 years now where I am, so I had to get it done before it became prohibitively expensive. I know a lot goes into it, and hopefully the end result is worth it (I'm convinced it is) but lately money has been tighter than before, so I have had to take these kinds of things into consideration. I love wearing it, and I've worn it through the most important points in my life so far. But the economy just isn't doing well for me...such is life.

The quartz version is cool, though in all honesty it never appealed to me because I like to hear the sound of the mechanism. What made you go with that choice, if I may ask?

Hamilton Khaki is a good choice.Shame it is only water resistant to 50m aka you cannot even splash it.

What a beauty.

Wish this was 2mm smaller. Pretty.

Simple and clean Omega, can't go wrong.

This one. Silver and Gold is cool but could also come off as tizzy.

Stunning

Nice.

Vintage King Seiko Chronometer on Eulit Perlon today.

I like autos better in a way; but i have ended owning more quartz (including solars, eco drives and kinetics) than mechanics. In fact of my 4 watch current rotation only one is mechanic. Im trying to figure how to switch to a 2 mechanics and 2 quartz combination without losing too much practicality.

Quartzs are always ready, more accurate, easier and cheaper to service, more dependable... Mechanics are more like art to me.

I love my Seamaster 300m quartz due to:

- General quartz advantages as stated. Mine is running +1 second a week too.
- Its thinner than the auto, hence more versatile/dressy and comfortable.
- Its the real version used in Goldeneye, so the true first Bond Omega.

Nice piece

You can see how the Omega in Goldeneye is quartz, since the dial lacks the line of text that says "chronometer" present in the automatic model (the dial of quartz has three lines of text and the automatic four).

buddy of mine had one. It has a Chinese clone movement and broke within a year. beautiful dial however.

Stunning user.

Whats the second knob on the 11 o clock used for?

Name?

Trying to decide between these 3. Leaning towards the last one because it's cheaper and would look acceptable in most situations. Is #2 too flashy/old timer looking? Could I wear it on a night out in say either tshirt or button up and jeans? I work in software so definitely not there. I like 2 and could afford it, but it's maybe too much until I can get the rest of the lifestyle to go along with it.

>25
>tall skelle mode
>wear a button up to go out, even work though I don't have to
>work in software
>live with parents and drive a camry - cashed out biz gains with the explicit intention of buying something nice and a little show offy. I'm otherwise a cheap bastard

oops
>wear a button up *even to work* though I don't have
So I'm already slightly over dressed compared to the heard

Also it's my first watch, besides a digital timex

3 would be the most versatile

1 is the most "iconic"

Though I'm not really impressed by anything JLC makes

Helium release valve. It has to be open to decompress if you have been in an helium rich pressurized environment (saturation deep underwater facility, suit or vehicle).

Nobody is going to use it ever.

Yeah I think I will get #3, I want to actually wear it and don't want to look like a tryhard. I like that even the nice and obviously fancy JLCs still have a simple look to them. I kind of like the sleeper aspect.

God damn though something about #2 is so appealing. The gold with leather straps seems just the right combination of flash and modest. But I think I'd worry too much about damaging it, looking like a fag, or outdoing a superior.

Id go full Geophysic true second. Most usable and understated Jaeger i think. Antimagnetic, luminova, date and... dead seconds complication (you can pass it as a Casio dress quartz xD).

Love it.

what the fug >:DDDDD

Will a 41mm watch be too large for if my wrists are 6 3/4 inches? I just measured and 41mm is almost the entire top of my wrist.

Omega Constellation. The reference is 168.004.

...

...

...

Thinking of buying an intra-matic (38mm), is it any good and can anyone recommend good watch webshops in eu.

Its pretty good, since it uses the slimmer than usual ETA2892 i think. But no seconds hand, which makes my anxious (autism maybe) because you have to hear the ticking to know if its running or not.

My current collection.

Close up on the Omega

Actually, I've swapped the grey for the black since this picture. I made around £300 on buying and selling the "Ripley" so basically got this watch for completely free.

FA or not?

Which of these would work as a manual labor working mans watch? The Seiko or Orient?

1/3 white face

Black face

2/3

Seiko

3/3

>manual labor
g shock, ironman, f91, etc
"tool" automatics are a myth

>50m of water resistance
hon hon

friend has one. it's pretty nice for a quartz

>TOSSIT

neither movement is really up to that task + the sapphire crystal on the seiko would probably explode.

you'd probably get away with a diver

if it was a modern one i'd agree but the vintage ones were solid, everyday watches.

left is more versatile.
right looks like a timex
center is.. striking.

Cop or not?

What kind of manual labour? Are you wearing the watch during work?

Probably no dress watch would qualify for use during it.

But digital isnt always the best option. Most of the time yes, but not always.

Id go for a Schaumburg Gnomonik.

>Schaumburg Gnomonik.
Well it is twenty times the price...

For a reason probably.

Back of a store assembling furniture and lifting boxes etc etc. Nothing too dirty. I will be wearing the watch during work since we can’t have phones and there’s no wall clocks. I see, I will keep looking. Thank you.

My current bae

Id go gshock. But i understand you want something more fancy, automatic etc that can serve as your only watch.

Inside the Orient range you have the Mako Ray. Choose a black or blue one and buy a couple straps for it (a zulu for work at least). That would do nicely being a diver with day and date complication, afordable and life lasting.

TGV is your main influence isn't he

Absolutely fucking horrendous. Watches made by fashion houses are 100 percent pure dog shit.

None of these are a 'working mans' watch, get a field watch or a diver. For your price bracket look at the Seiko SRP777, Seiko SKX007/009, Seiko Sumo, Orient Mako, Hamilton Khaki Mechanical. But if you are REALLY set on one of those get the Seiko Sarb.

Cute

Hamilton's website says the 38mm Khaki is 100m water resistant.

I don't know where the 50m meme is coming from.

>But i understand you want something more fancy, automatic etc that can serve as your only watch.
Yes, exactly! Divers aren’t quite my cup of tea. But thank you again for your help and recommendations.

Thank you for your response. I’ll take your advice and will look into more field watches. I think this looks quite nice. Thanks!

Good value prop that Seiko 5, but do yourself a favor and throw the strap in the bin as soon as you get it and put it on a decent canvas or nylon strap!

Those are dress watches, negro

Try a Timex Expedition or SNK809
