Why is it hard to find a hairstylist that listens and actually gives you the hairstyle you want?
>Go to get my hair cut like pic related >Had the right amount of length and hair type for it >Show the guy this photo >He literately says "okay...." in a slightly condescending tone >Straight away asks me what length I want around the sides, even though I literally just showed him a photo >10 minutes in >"Is this length good?" >Literately looks NOTHING like the picture I showed him >Was much longer than the photo, so I just said it's fine and decided to save my shoe from being JUST'd
How the fuck do I find a capable and competent hairdresser?
i was in the exact same position as you with the same hair and all that shit
heres what you do: abandon the hair stylist jew and do it yourself. that's a two block cut and it's simple as fuck. get your momma to do the back and do the sides yourself.
David Myers
Do you have a guide or advice? I'd rather do it myself too. It's fucking annoying because I spent a long time growing my hair out.
Jason White
Oh, and you know the worst part? I'm 99% sure he was close to his break time and that's why he got annoyed that I asked for something that wasn't a side cut.
Austin Gonzalez
Jesus Christ, there are so many hair questions on this shitty board. It's very simple.
Go to a proper hair salon/hair stylist. It's going to cost $80-100, but if you want good hair, that what it costs. They will give you tips on style, how to style, what products, how to care for hair, etc
They are professionally trained and have hair styling down to a science. You won't regret spending the money

get hair clips from amazon. the hair stylist ones, not the ones you permanently put in your hair. also get hair cutting scissors. those 2 tools are all I use - but that's because I don't cut the sides too short. I get my sides around an inch or two long and not uniformly sized so doing it with scissors suffices getting that "ruffled" look but if you want to get like a 3 or 4 on the sides with your two block you're gonna want to get an electric clipper too. if you dont want that you could just go to a cheap barber and ask him to only do the sides, but if you're looking to do this long term it'll be cheaper to just buy some cheap clippers from amazon.
use the hair clips to section parts of your hair that you don't want to cut, so if I'm doing the korean 2 block cut which is what I usually do, I'll section off the top of my hair - then just do as the barber does: use two fingers in a "scissor" motion to outstretch sections of your hair, then use your other hand with the scissors to cut to the length you want. Do this repeatedly until the length is achieved. Use a comb to go through your hair and find any longer sections you forgot to cut. Repeat for the other sides of your head.
It's really simple, you can watch a youtube tutorial on it too. Barbers are only really necessary for complex cuts - for stuff like a two block it's all about how you style it rather than the length.
This, OR go to a regular korean hair stylist. He'll specialise with gook hair who'll be getting this gook cut so he won't force that cookie cutter undercut meme shit on you.

Just to add to my original post. $80 isn't bad when you factor in that they wash, treat and blow dry the hair every service.
The key is to find hair stylists that do work with models/magazines. If you live in a major city it won't be hard to find.
Pro tip: if you want nice looking hair, I'd recommend seeing female or gay men hair stylists. Most (not all) straight men do traditional cuts like undercuts and fades

Don't you shower? The fuck you think washing and drying is worth anything?
Logan Lopez
Oh no, I understand and agree with you. I care about my hair that much that I'd rather do that.

>Pro tip: if you want nice looking hair, I'd recommend seeing female or gay men hair stylists. Most (not all) straight men do traditional cuts like undercuts and fades Holy shit, I'm pretty sure this is why he didn't know what to do. I went to one of those modern barbers and as soon as I showed him the photo in OP he sounded like he thought I was gay or something because I didn't want a typical undercut.

They have special treatments which I don't have at my house.
yep, I wouldn't trust a barber with anything beyond a haircut that only uses clippers. Women's hair stylists are much better with layers and making sure that the haircut will "age" well. i.e. the hair will continue to form into desired shape weeks later.
Switching to proper hair stylists is one of the best decisions you can make

easy OP, unless you wanna do it yourself you try a new hair dresser until you're happy
I tried maybe 14 before I found one I stuck with, the place is 120 years old, you can smoke while getting a haircut and it's bleak af
that being said they're damn fine barbers despite they're immediate appearance. Also hair grows back, don't make it such a big deal
Caleb Sanders
disregard the second part. Get a hand mirror and with some practice you can fade the back yourself just fine, it takes some routine though t. haven't been to hairdresser in 2 years
Sebastian Cooper
You should probably post a picture of your hair, otherwise its kinda hard to take you seriously. I've seen enough guys on the internet claim that they cut their own hair and it looks good, while in reality its always some nerdy autist and it either looks like shit or its something like a buzzcut (which also looks like shit)

I used that exact same pic once as well and it ended up completely fucked. Only spend +£100 on haircuts now.

This meme style is easily obtainable yourself. There's that one gook on youtube who does mukbang videos and he legit does it entirely with a pair of scissors. Didn't come out amazing but that style is 99% style. As long as the top is like 5/6 inches long and the sides are short, I usually do 3 on my electric shaver, you're golden.
