What exactly is anarcho communism?

Can someone please explain how anarcho communism works?

Think hippie commune

tldr: Anarcho-socialism is regular socialism but without an authoritarian vanguard party to seize the means of production.
Bakunin predicted that the vanguard would degenerate into a dictatorship of the proletariat, and present an obstacle to the goals of socialism where the "capitalists" are merely trading hands with Party cronies. See: USSR.

It doesn't.

So if there is no vanguard party, how do they remain communist? How do they equally share everything?

They have a state. They just use words like confederation and committee to refer to it instead.

Anarcho communism is when you decide you're not edgy enough.

It is the Katana + Trenchcoat combo of political stances.

If they DO have a state/government , then isn't it not anarchy?

As far as I understand it, which admittedly is not far, it's like achieving communism without a violent revolution.

But I don't see how that could happen spontaneously. The mechanism of action is somewhat obscure, at least to me.

Honnestly, I could see a "socialist revolution" coming out of a technological surge. If suddenly human labour was worthless, we'd have no choice but to abandon the sale of labour.

But that won't happen either because the people who have the finances to implement such a system would be unwilling to neutralize the social system that made them rich and powerful in the first place; well I would guess anyways. I suppose weirder things have happened.

Well, in theory, AnCom is voluntary and unhierarchical given its anarchist premise. And people can voluntarily form a commune on voluntary principles.
I was referring to the most known large scale example of Anarcho-Communism (in theory), Revolutionary Catalonia, where there was hierarchy and coercion.

I thought Anarcho Capitalists were stereotypically the fedora trenchcoat katana dudes and AnComs were squeaky 15 year olds. Did the view switch now?

Setting up a communist state then refusing to admit it's a state

You know how villages often share things for the good of everyone?

It's that, but on a large scale

Read What Is Anarchist Communism by Alexander Berkman if you want to know. It's a pretty good introductory book, and it's short.

/thread

It's basically:

Communism:
- "From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs"
- No private property, everything owned by the commune is owned by everyone (e.g. there are shared cars etc.)

Anarchism:
- Voluntary association groups
- No leaders, votes held for everything, committee positions are rotated

Just read about the Kibbutzim. It worked pretty well there, until many of them decided to take out huge loans to re-build and turn them into gated housing developments rather than communes, then they had to privatise and introduce money. It's interesting watching interviews with people in their 80s who have lived all their life on a kibbutz and have never known the concept of money (and obviously ever worried about it).

> there was hierarchy and coercion.
>the most known large scale example of Anarcho-Communism (in theory), Revolutionary Catalonia

Prove me wrong.

both things contradict each other

I typed "in theory" between parentheses since, like I said, Revolutionary Catalonia incurred in hierarchy and coercion, both of which tenets are opposed to the premises of Anarchism.

No, anarchommies have nothing against violent revolution.

If by state you mean structures of coordination and distribution, then the state is not a problem. It just has to be organized and controlled by the people in a horizontal manner, then it's okay.

Nah, anarcho capitalists are also pretty edgy, but in a more fuck you I dont care way, while anarch communists are "im better than you plebs, my intellectual level is 9000, I know whats best" type of people, usually those no one wants to talk to because
>Muh intelligence
