Stowa Flieger Klassik 40 Baumuster B vs Victorinox Airboss 241507 Mechanical?
I opted for the Airboss because it seemed like the best value. The Flieger is stunningly gorgeous, absolutely the only watch I would want to buy after the Victorinox, but I wanted to get a watch that could arrive to me by tomorrow, because every single one of my shitty battery watches is out of power. I made the step into mechanical watches and pulled an all nighter researching different watches starting yesterday afternoon.
They both MSRP at around 1000, and it seemed like the Airboss was discounted by half at around 530 dollars. I appears very good quality and very utilitarian, which is what I want. I want something which is in no way bling. I have always dug the aviator look, ever since I was a little kid. I have a plaid bomber hat, a nice Filson Field jacket, leather shoes. The Flieger, and to a lesser extent the victorinox have the air old WWII memorabilia you would find in your grandfather's trunk, which were beautiful and extremely utilitarian. It's one of the most unique combinations of understated style, and rugged utility, which are my two favorite combinations.
What do you think of this choice though? It seems like I'm getting something which is probably the same quality for half the price, without the grandfather's WWII memorabilia feeling to it. It seems like a good deal to me. I'm sure that they're both in par in terms of which is the most precision time piece, which is also very important to me.

I'd rather it just have the number on the screen. Also, I'm not looking for an under 100 dollar watch, and a lot of the Seikos that people recommend here are under 500 dollars. If something MSRP for 1000 dollars and goes down to 500, okay, at least then I know I'm getting a bargain. I am looking for a super readable, military style, water proof, automatic watch. The other candidates that I pushed aside in the end were Hamilton. It was a very close match between the Hamilton Men's HML-H70575733 Khaki Field and the Victorinox Airboss, but the Victorinox was a 100 dollars cheaper on Amazon and apparently the Hamilton has a more reflective screen. They're basically the same watch though so whatever.
I'm also happy that several watch blogs put the Victorinox and the Hamilton on the same list, because they're both fantastic time pieces.

The KHAKI FIELD AUTO 40MM is definitely on my high list for the next watch purchase. There's 4 other watches I would like to own at this point.

It doesn't even have numbers on it's face, and it has a bunch of reflectiveness on it. It looks too much like a business person watch. I like watches which are really simple looking and I only like style if it's very subtle, like I will admit the Seiko automatic presage SARWO11 pulls off extremely well, as well as pic related in this post

The only reason I want a Seiko is because people say they have good movements. I'm not really sure how to judge movements, but I can respect that if a watch has ultra accurate precision parts. There's nothing to knock Seiko for on that. I am just a very minimalist type person, for that reason I really wish that I could see less pretentious designs on Seiko watches. There is one Seiko which I do want and plan on getting which I posted a few posts up in my lists of watches which I want to get.

I think I'm going to bite and pick up a Seiko SKX007K. Someone in the other thread said that it's a super serviceable and good time piece, and the Urban Gentry said that he spent an entire year with it being his EDC watch. I'm going to have to get one and put a new strap on it. It will go along nicely with the Stowa Flieger.
