The middle east has for the most part of the 1400 years of Islam's existence been majority non-muslim. Even Iraq into the 1900s was over 25% christian.

War chariots were the basis of heroic warrior cults of personality for the aristocrats of the Assyrian people. The Scythians and the Cimmerians were on a different level of horse based warfare as a culture.
