What are some cities/time-zones that would be the real life equivelent of Agrabah? Did any interesting wars or coups happen in said city? I just find "desert / middle eastern market city" to be an interesting setting

Any city in the Middle East? I'm not sure what you're looking for.

Dang, that looks awesome.

I guess specifically I'm looking for info on historic events that happened in cities like that one!

Arabic/Persian/N.African culture, art, institutions and unique way of life was all destroyed by the memetic plague known as Islam.

It needs to be quarantined and then eradicated, or else the reign of destruction will continue.

What are some examples of the "unique art and way of life"?

Samarkand.

Agrabah was supposedly based heavily upon Baghdad outside of the palace. The palace was based upon the Taj Majal.

I want to plough large avenues through lots of that.

seems terrible to navigate.

That construction is from the post muslim period. (considering it's clearly a mosque)

If you want some actual depictions of pre islamic, ancient sogdian samarkand then look at pic related.

It's a madrasa.

Well, since it's based on the Taj Mahal, I'd say Muslim India

Reread the post and get back to me

Thank you for the image dump user! Very inspiring!

Got any resources on the subjects I could read?

I wonder who could be behind this post.

I feel you OP, there is something very romanticizing about mid east / north African architecture and marketplaces

That's rather oversimplifying a complex situation involving different ideologies, don't you think? Especially since arts/science flourished under a unified Islamic ME for a good while

What were those comfy looking bumps used for?

Damn, why did he muslims have to go full all of a sudden?

full retard*

>islam
Thats a weird way of spelling sunni.

It seems like they have periodical chimp outs were they fall into the most primitive mohammedanism.
The west on the other hand has its own kind of retardry going on.

>was all destroyed

This is patently false though and there was much overlap and syncretism between Islam and the regions it spread into.

Let's take ISIS and the Taliban for example - both responsible for literally destroying 'idolatrous' monuments but then in the thousand plus years since Islam had been around and dominant culture of the region and it's only in the last 20 years that 'Islam' destroyed such monuments?

How do you explain that? That the giant buddhist statue in Afghanistan had been there for so long or the monuments in Iraq and only now are they destroyed - doesn't this just shatter your statement completely and realise there is more to consider in the circumstances?

I guess it's easier to live in pig ignorance.

Baghdad during the height of the Islamic golden age.
I think that's the actual basis for it.
Of course it's from a western prospective, so the reality of it all is likely much different.

there's a split i think, sunni and shia, and from what i've heard both groups hate each others guts so everyone is mad and mad people break things

PRINCE ALI
DOODLEE DEE
ALIA BOB WAAAAAAAA

t. modern architect

The split exists since the death of Muhammad.

You must've meant contemporary.
Modernists weren't all that retarded.

Your source would be an orientalist view of the Middle East.

Seriously its a kitbash.

Jafar is literally in several 1001 nights tales, being the visir of the Caliph of Bagdad. He's the protagonist, though, not the bad guy. I don't remember him doing magic either.
