Hi, non-WoW player here.
The biggest reason I will never play WoW is that it is over 10 years old. I do not like getting into games that are way past their prime where the vast majority of the fanbase already play in their own echo chambers (in this case guilds). The game has never drawn me in, and I've played a lot of "WoW Clones" (Rift, FFXIV, ect) and I've never felt any reason to play WoW because I've never liked these games enough to justify the wall that is entering into the WoW playerbase.
I am not into some casual team based adventure game experience that are games like this. I have no friends, and I am not interested in being the third wheel to some random guild. Even if WoW was 100% F2P I wouldn't even consider trying it purely because of how old it is.
Now, I will be hated, shunned, downvoted, ect. But this is the very opposite of why I like the MMO genre. I like a game that is more like a persistent Adventure game with minimal team interaction than a game where you hand is held and you're forced to play with random people because you have no friends. Building a community does not work like that. You build friends because you want to rather than because you have to.
I had a very good friend who used to play WoW years ago. He would dedicate every Tuesday night to play the game with his Guild. He was trying to be the best in his server or something, I don't know the details. I shouldn't have to allocate time X just to play a game. I should be able to experience all of the game at 6 in the morning and 6 at night and not feel handicapped.

The play time on each one was ranging around 5 hours in total, I gave him an account to use that has no BOAs and no crazy EXP pots of any kind, and no high level pets, he tells me he did it by just old fashion leveling, but no way in hell he did, plus the weird thing is, is that some zones were completely undiscovered, zones that he would of have to have gone to at some point, one was a human mage and he ONLY had Elwynn Forest discovered, no other zone till Draenor.

Anyone have any ideas? Even if he used hacks, would it even be possible to level that fast with them?

>i keep my trap shut while they continue arguing, guy gets rezzed and transcends into a new state of mental retardation to hold his ground in the argument
>eventually just stop paying attention to the chat log since the dungeon is still running smoothly otherwise and that's all i care about

>saw the third dps say "how does it feel that people have garrison followers right now who are more successful than you'll ever be?"

>the other three share a laugh, they soothe the first guy and say he gives them hope for the playerbase since he calmly made a suggestion instead of being a jerk about it
>they end up exchanging bnet tags and continue talking to each-other through the instance, at one stage i think to myself they seem pretty chill
>the instance is done, group disbands
>tfw i suddenly become self-aware of my massive autism, realizing i missed out on making new friends because i would rather keep making progress and pushing the instance forward instead of "pointlessly" pinning down the tard and his rage
