Alphys is just a general scientist who makes all sorts of tech. Don't see how being multidisciplinary makes her a Mary Sue. Also the heroes don't necessarily work as a team. They don't have a mission command, at least not when they start off.

Thread's pretty slow today, and that MKid pic earlier was adorable, so might as well kick one of these off and if anyone happens to roll by, I'm around for the next ~5 hours and ready to keep going.

STORY START!

Frisk and Monster Kid are exploring Waterfall. Frisk leads the way with a torch in hand, carrying a backpack full of food.. Their goal is to find the Legendary Artifact cruelly stolen by the Annoying Dog. Neither of them have any idea where to go, but they won't let that stop them!

Finding such an elusive creature could prove very difficult. They could probably use some information. Question is, who will they ask?

The two frolicked around, not even really searching for the artifact as much as having fun as the youngest and bravest explorers of the Underground.

Their trek eventually landed them on a little pier, with a familiar, yet strangely distant form standing on the very edge.

"Yo...who's that?" Monster Kid muttered.

The figure looked almost exactly like them, save for a checkered sweater and oddly dark features. Whoever it was, didn't seem to hear them, gazing off into the distance. The two kids decided to try and surprise them and circled around, Frisk from the left and Monster Kid from the right. On cue, they both jumped before the figure with a loud "HI!", just making sure they covered the distance between them and the edge. It would have been awkward if they ended up jumping into the abyss, by accident.

Looks like the FUN settings were just right for this encounter to happen. However, Monster Kid's presence might change things time time around. How will Goner Kid react to meeting, what looks like their twin?

"Ha ha..." it said, in a voice that more resembled an echo, than anything. "Is this a bad joke?"

Frisk and Monster Kid looked at each other, the smile vanishing from their face. This other monster looked even more like MK from the front, save for the unreadable expression.

"Mirror, mirror." the grey monster mumbled. "Maybe that's the key. Consume."

Without leaving time for the two to ponder what they meant, the monster opened its mouth and lurched forward, biting down on Monster Kid's tail. He screamed more in shock than pain and started running around the tiny pier with the other monster desperately tried to consume him in the least efficient way possible.

Frisk saw this as a possible source of danger, seeing how the pier was small and the two so frantic. They quickly set the backpack down and grabbed one of the carefully packaged boxes. The moment Monster Kid took a moment to catch his breath, the human leaned down and flicked the grey monster on the nose as hard as they could.

The sudden 'attack' made them back off with a grimace, looking rather scary with large, expressionless eyes. Before they could lunge for another try, Frisk set them into a sit and opened the box, presenting them with one of Grillby's authentic burgers instead.

"Trade?" they asked in kind voice, while Monster Kid nursed his aching tail.

Seems like Frisk's quick thinking defused a potentially uncomfortable situation. Question is, does Goner Kid accept the burger? Or will they react in some other way?

Bonetrousle is a pretty fun theme.
Creative in that it combines chiptune with violin, and, and the style is sort of a cross between what you'd use for dancing and what you'd use for sparring which makes sense considering that's basically what the Papyrus fight is.

The offering was quickly rejected, as the grey monster slammed his head into the burger. Frisk was taken aback by the unexpected move, though through the mumbles about 'alternate worlds', 'emptiness', and 'haa haa', they did heard the monster munching on it, in their odd way. The human did cringe a bit though, as bits and pieces of the burger scattered into the air from the messy eating.

"Yo, that's gross, have some table manners..." Monster Kid grumbled, retreating behind Frisk, leaning against the comfy human. They weren't exactly scared of the unknown monster, but had no intention of losing their tail.

Goner Kid is consuming the burger. Everything seems to be alright for now, there's no way this could end badly now. Right?

The delicious scent of burgers permeated the air of the little pier, carried far by the soft wind blowing through the cavers of Waterfall.

"So... what now?" Monster Kid asked, watching as the grey mirror-copy of himself was slowly reaching the bottom. Part of him wondered if the creepy kid would try and eat the box, too.

They both looked up, only to see three brand new figures approaching the pier. One of them was a short monster with eyes wide in a mix of horror and surprise.

The other resembled Burgerpants strangely enough, though constantly rocking with a laughter that brought chills down their spines. More alarmingly, they couldn't even see the face of the creature, shrouded in unnatural darkness. Only their mouth was visible, locked in a crazed grin. The third one wasn't even a full figure, or at least their body wasn't visible much, save for the giant face emerging from the ground itself.

Not a single one of them looked very trustworthy or harmless, as they closed in on them, blocking the way off the pier. Monster Kid leaned closer to Frisk, finding the human shivering just as much as they were. They pulled out their phone, only to find the screen flickering with nothing, but empty static. Frisk swallowed, the faint red glint of their SOUL shining through their sweater, as the child felt threatened.

Uh oh... the children have finally met with the lost followers of W.D Gaster. They're quite the terrifying sight to behold. Question is, what do they want?
