I find DRPGs to be well designed with more interesting gameplay systems and exploration compared to most JRPGs. Where they conserve in budget is in 3D modeling of dungeons and also by having basically no story or dialog.

If they have some kind of personality you can probably just reuse a lot of things and mix them up, nobody's gonna see them anyway. Appearance is the only thing that will make you choose them.
