Or just have different materials, one for each expression and apply them to the face as required.

The probably do it the same way I did on a few of my old characters, with parts textured that take in an eye texture and a mouth texture, and change both eyes and the mouth to whatever the emotion needs.

That was actually supposed to be the joke. The reason I made it print 'o's is because the code it accepts prints the lists sequentially instead of in a grid, even though it explicitly asks you to print a 5x5 grid.
