Create or name your idea of an ideal government or lack thereof.

>inb4 "dirty commie!", I just like the picture

city states with cultural ties uniting all the cities. The more decentralized the power is, the more valuable service it gives to the population.

What do you believe would be cultural ties other than religion?

A system where personal environment and living conditions are determined by how attractive you are.

Beautiful people live in the inner sanctum of the cities, which are all new carefully designed architecture and planning, treated to the greatest welfare and healthcare affordable.

Average people live in the outer sanctum of the city and in the rural regions. They will be given a standardized welfare and healthcare which is designed to be the most cost-efficient and not luxurious. If they have beautiful children, their children can move into the inner sanctum.

Ugly people live on the outskirts of cities in slums. They will not be given any healthcare or welfare and they will live in bare minimum city planning and architectural design districts.

Do you consider yourself a beautiful person and would the military and law enforcement be beautiful or ugly workers? I just don't see many supporting this kind of thinking. Especially when every single person has a different opinion on beauty.

>Do you consider yourself a beautiful person and would the military and law enforcement be beautiful or ugly workers?

The elite would obviously be beautiful, or average. The grunts would be mostly average.

>I just don't see many supporting this kind of thinking. Especially when every single person has a different opinion on beauty.

I know a lot of people like to say this. But there is an objective consensus on people who are aesthetically pleasing to look at, and people who are not.

For example the guys in this picture would be considered by a large majority as unattractive.

And in reverse, celebrities like Scarlett Johansson or Robert Downey JR. are considered by a large majority of people as attractive.

As for me, I'm not beautiful. So I'd like a system that helps boost beautiful people to the status they deserve, and encourage everyone to become beautiful.

That's a caste system and they've been known to be pretty awful

Nationalist, Capitalist yet Economic Interventionist, Anti-War outside of defending the nation and her close allies, loose gun laws but the need for a license to own fully automatic weapons or to take ANY weapon outside of your property, fully Democratic with a parliament, anybody can make a political party, and if the nation has a long history of monarchy it can have a constitutional one where the monarch actually owns no power.

It's a realistic goal, I guess.

...

I'm not that either. I just didn't want to have the thread be derailed by Left V.S. Right bullshit. Was a good meme though.

Would be better if you put a M1 Garand or M16 over the SKS.

I know, I just thought some people would enjoy the Autistic humour.

I suck at editing images.

Ah well I got a chuckle and saved it so mission accomplished.

A post-scarcity globalized world with open borders where everything is decided at a community level.

I don't think that would actually work with humans but I still want it somewhat anarchist so maybe have each community represented by a super intelligent AI that represents the best interest of the community and negotiates between all the AI to come to a consensus to create the best results for every party.

But how could you trust the AI any more than a intelligent person?

Because an AI can be purely data driven and doesn't have physical needs and emotions and lustful for power so it wouldn't be able to be corrupt. It wouldn't be a sentient AI

How would the AI be safe from the corruption by people though? Like stopping people from hacking it or something.

In this ideal state everyone lives innawoods and is far enough away from each other that one only encounters another person every 10 years on average. This way there will be no conflict. Everyone is employed with the occupations of hunting and berry-picking for themselves. Plus there are no taxes. Wait I guess this isn't really a government

My government is made for East Asia, my people

>Essentially a federation of East Asian countries
>Big focus on nationalism, culture and military
>Monarchy with NatSoc undertones and mixed economy leaning more on free market
>Nations within the federation work like US States but more autonomy
>Ruled by a big central Emperor
>Monarchs of the federation serve under the Emperor (Eg. the king of Dai Viet, king of Korea, emperor of Japan, serves under the central emperor)
>Monarchs in the federation and the emperor have their own dynasties that change rulers if the current one dies or steps down
>Provinces within the federation have governors that are changed via election every 4 years
>Nations within the federation are allowed to control postal service, local economy, local construction, local factories, monarch, governors, and local militia
>Central government controls education, overall military, social services, health care, science, and overall production planning.
>East Asian cultures of all kinds are promoted in the federation and working together as a unified race is encouraged

It'd be pretty hard to stop some of them from coming together and creating a community.

Me as emperor.

Ah yes, I suppose there will be a need for a government to separate the people again every decade or so. Now comes the question of how to collect taxes . . .

If they are all in solitary wouldn't you kill everyone in the country in one generation?

I like it when people try to create a nation and all they do is combine a bunch of preexistung countries and pur "Federation" or "Union" in the name. Real creative, guys

No because they will wander across another person every decade on average. Half the time it will be the opposite sex and thus the population sustains

Sounds like almost Canada but not quite.

What the president of Philipines thinks is ideal government.

He basically tells his people to kill the drugdealers they know and he will give them pardon.

>“It’s a very simple sentence in the constitution, which says the president has the power to pardon a criminal offender. If I tell someone, kill them [criminals] and they say ‘but sir, I will be charged’, I just [answer] ... get a carbon copy of the [pardon] paper and I will sign it. If the lawyer objects, even the lawyer, you kill him.”

So you want a traditional Sinosphere?

What if I wanna kill a guy but he isn't a drug dealer? Can I still get pardoned?

Hard to tell, but Duterte did similar thing in Davao, telling police to don't intervene or charge vigilantes which resulted in turning the hive of crime into very peaceful and clean city. So it's likely that there is some coordination in case there was "I swear he was a drug dealer" kind of case.

Democracy, but make some goddamn tests before election so every retarded redneck chasing after false promises can't vote.
This would solve so many issues.

Can I make the test? The first question will be "Do you agree that Ronald Reagan was the greatest American president?"

Since I can't really define what my idea of the perfect government/country would be I'll just sort of broadly describe it.

Nationalistic with an isolationist standpoint militarily but not economically. I'd prefer for full on capitalism with minor government regulation mostly pertaining to executives of businesses amd stock fraud not so much to do with the acquiring and merging of companies. A strong focus on producing our own products and not relying as heavily on outside sources as well. The government shouldnt be democratic or if it is remove the the aspect of television with politics so people have to actually like someone's platform and not just vote for them because they look nicer. A mild form of eugenics dedicated to breeding out disabilities and deformities among the general population and just to clarify I'm not looking to develop an Aryan race of blond haired and blue eyed children the goal however would be to create a smarter and stronger population for the nation.

I could go on not really sure what else to cover kinda tired right now.

Oh and I forgot the implementation of the death penalty as well.

While you're at it might as well make the second question be something along the lines of "Bill Clinton/Obama was/is our greatest president ever t/f?"

People are just as retarded on the left as they are on the right.

You do realize that most people on this planet don't live in murrica?

but Al Gore invented the internet

Power is held by the intellectually, physically, and militarily superior. However, citizens are allowed to overthrow their leaders if things for awry. To prevent this, the populace is allowed to call a convention with the leaders discuss their rule.

Education is of high importance, and all citizens go through compulsory education. In addition to basic subjects, all citizens are taught fitness, philosophy, and strategy. Furthermore, all citizens are trained in martial arts and how to use firearms. Those who excel in all are groomed to be leaders.

Thought there is no official economic system, it is expected that workers own the means of production voluntarily and people pitch in to help each other. All citizens are eligible for ownership of any type of firearm. Laws are set in place only for crimes that involve a victim, and laws deemed unnecessary can be nulled by the populace.

The end goal is to have a stratified yet united society where all citizens are benevolent, learned, healthy, and can take the role of soldiers ONLY when need be.

We never said they did? What we were talking about or at least the previous user was how they should limit conservative voters or at least the ones that give a bad rep for everyone else from voting. I merely pointed out that the stereotypical left is just as retarded.

Oligarchy with scientists, philosophers and artists taking every decision.

Helleneaboo pls go

Plato pls go

L'etat c'est moi

What is that pic from?

A benevolent yet stern monarchy in the same vein of Singapore and Monaco, but applied to the entire world. This would mean that many of the worlds nations would have to be totally balkanized. Total nuclear disarmament of all nations. The plan is to put the government back into the hands of the people, on a scale that the average Joe could be able to comprehend. All corporations and similar entities are abolished, and monopolies on trade goods are disbanded. Preferably this would lead to new competition in the markets, because instead of 4 large companies competing, there would be hundreds if not thousands of local businesses.
Does this sound like shit or am I onto something?

Republic led by soldiers where only soldiers could vote and only those that had served on the front line could hold political office. Soldiers would always have a place, whether it be in battle or in society in general. A gathering place for the world's foremost mercenaries, it would dispatch arms and soldiers to battlegrounds throughout the world with the intent to control wars and eventually end them.

so, Rome?

No

Too much emphasis on nobility and aristocracy

Ancap, where every individual is sovereign, property rights are respected and people seek voluntary and morally consistent solutions to societies problems. Where responsibility becomes a fact of life/survival again.

A society/world where people are more focused on coming up with good ideas than trying to force bad ideas on each other.

One where dispute resolution is recognized as far easier to accomplish with the right incentives with unnecessary force being all but forgotten.

One where economic prosperity of a free market lifts everyone up so much that most basic human needs are met and more people can be shifted to focus on arts/science etc.

I can imagine the first space faring humans being hyper capitalist driven by incentives and individualism/voluntary collectivism.

A society where the core idea is individuals pursuing their values in life with respect for others forced by societal norms and incentives, where communal interactions are voluntary.

>tenor
It would be fairly hands off as far as its own citizens and corporations, but it would have safety nets for people and pro-competition and pro-fairness measures for corporations, mainly for ones that act like dicks. It would not interfere with other nations unless the nation itself is being attacked or mistreated or someone's posing a WWII tier threat to a whole region.
>organization
It would be organized in hierarchical regions, with towns etc., then states, then the country as a whole, possibly with another level in there if the nation's very large. Policy would be made at the lowest level that makes sense and each region and each type of region would have real authority. Laws made at a higher level would apply at lower levels, but there would be relatively few of them (which still might be a lot, in total). Laws, policies, and ordinances at the local level would be handled by city councils or direct democracy. Things at the state level would be handled by a local senate/congress and occasionally direct democracy. National legislation would be handled by a lower house representing each local area and an upper house representing each state, but provisions would exist to have direct democracy at the national level if it's ever desired. Both houses would need to agree for legislation to pass or be overturned. Recourse to get around this would be available by the decision of a large majority of the nation's city councils and state legislatures.

>elections
Elections would be non-partisan. Eligibility for elections would require a small fee, certain personal information (name, address, ways of contacting the candidate, etc.). Voting would be done with a preferential system (e.g. "my first choice would be A, but B is an OK guy, I just don't want C or D running anything"). Local and state legislatures would be able to set their rules and structure to a degree (more so when being formed), while the national legislature would be more fixed. The upper house would suggest ambassadors and people to head up agencies and the lower house would approve or reject them. This would include a special "ambassador to the people" selected from outside the national legislature (but who could be a representative at a lower level) who would act as both a mouthpiece for the national legislature, relaying their thought processes and feelings and such, and as someone to oversee them and whip them into shape, but who would have no decision-making power except in the case of a tie in either house.
>agencies
The military would be under civilian control through the government. Basic education would be funded and guided by the government but not controlled by it. Advanced education would be partially funded by the government in the interest of having a capable citizenry.

>money
Taxes would start around poverty level (probably a bit above it) and be almost flat, they would scale up slowly. There would be no blanket tax on income, but some forms could be taxed, and many other things could be taxed, however property taxes would be kept low by law, and would be based on the amount of land owned and how it's used (e.g. condos taxed more than farms and woods). Government preference would always be given to companies based inside the country, and generally to ones based in whatever state needs them.
>reorganization
Secession would be allowed, but it would require a unanimous vote in a state legislature and a large majority vote by the people, and it would require a non-aggression treaty between the existing nation and the new one. Local areas (and groups of them) could place themselves in another existing state by large majority vote their populace and agreement of the state to be joined. Local areas would be able to divide themselves (as might be prudent for a metropolis) by large majority vote of the populace and review by the state government.

I really like the Swiss canton system

I have a bunch of ideas for tweaks to the existing US political system

>replace the Presidency with a Soviet Style council consisting of various department heads, and led by whoever the council votes to be head
>mandate that all workers be part of democratically elected unions
>create a third house of congress that functions as a direct democracy, but can only pass laws with a two thirds majority, and functions as an advisory board otherwise
>give the other two branches of government the ability to summon juries to see what a randomly selected group of 12 citizens thinks about a policy decision
>create one massive Inspector General's office that functions as an independent agency like the courts or the Federal Reserve, whose sole job is to look for corrupt officials, with sweeping search and subpoena rights
>create an independent bureau of statistics whose job it is to crunch the numbers officially for any government related policy, that can be commissioned to do work by the Presidency or Senate
>only allow people who vote in the primaries to vote in general elections
>put the Department of Defense and CIA under a larger foreign policy command that is led by the Department of State
>directly elect the heads of federal agencies
>whenever the nation is at war, force the news agencies to spent at least some time showing the names and faces of the KIA as they come in
>have federal agencies be controlled by various professional organizations, such as the American Medical Association having direct political authority over the FDA and the Social Security Administration
>introduce performance bonuses for the Senate, so that people can get absolutely loaded by getting elected and increasing median household income

National socialism purged of its right-wing element which relies on ethnic scapegoating instead of admitting the inherent structural deficiencies of contemporary market dynamics while avoiding the sort of PC-run amok identity politics of leftist movements.

Financial institutions and large enterprises would be heavily regulated so that their interests align with the interests of the commonwealth. Powerful anti-trust laws would prevent any one commercial entity from dominating too much a share of the market and the tax and regulatory apparatus would favor businesses which stay small, lean, and focused on their core competency.

All insurance is nationalized and a guaranteed right for every citizen, be it auto, life, or healthcare. High marginal tax rates on income (leaving capital gains and corporate taxes low to stimulate business and encourage investment) would be reinvested back into the economy continuously modernizing transportation, education, and cultural infrastructure, with the intent of encouraging new markets to grow and develop and thus provide opportunities which maximize the economic potential of every citizen. Science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics would be the core focus of higher education, while the humanities are taught at every level of development encouraging an active citizenry.

Abortion would be outlawed (except for medical reasons) and any unwanted baby could be donated to the state adoption agency, which would re-home them in a foster household in an appropriate tax bracket. Any one of sufficient wealth in this nation would be required to help shoulder the burden of raising the future generation of citizens (as opposed to putting all of our nation's growth on the backs of poor single mothers) and special financial incentives and tax exemptions would be given to anyone conscripted into adopting a state child. If the government has the power to make you take a life, then it has the power to make you save one.

1/2

2/2

Military is kept trim, no more than a few ten thousand full time professionals. The moral fiber of the nation would be preserved in a state militia system, where anyone who can show up for target practice, land-navigation, and drill and ceremony a few times a quarter would be given a paycheck as a form of conditional basic income, with incentives offered to those who can pass quarterly PT tests. The carefully reigned in military-industrial complex would focus on finding the most cost-effective solutions to warfare, particularly focusing on drones, light artillery, and other infantry-centered solutions which can be disseminated down through the state militia system. Air superiority would be provided by the navy but the true strength of the nation would be in the whole "gun behind every blade of grass" thing going on. Cyber-warfare would be given as much prominence in the military as the army and navy.

Special permits would be required for personal ownership of guns and the market would be tightly controlled to prevent cheap, mass-produced pistols from falling into the hands of criminals, but any citizen could go to the public armory and practice with a military rifle if they felt so inclined. In times of peace the state militias would function as a form of community policing, working with police departments to integrate into communities and put a human face on the government, and to encourage listless young men to put in a uniform and do something constructive for their community.

Professional full time soldiers would focus on militia training, operating as green berets do but on a larger, domestic scale. As part of their training they would be given education focused on providing healthcare both for their fellow soldiers in time of war, and on civilians as jobs waiting for them upon retirement from service.

>Military is kept trim, no more than a few ten thousand full time professionals

This isn't enough to accomplish anything of value.

There's really no such thing as a part time fighter pilot.

The fighter pilots are what we would preserve.

The professional soldiers would be the equivalent of professional football players: the very top of their field, the handful who are so competent at their jobs that they deserve a state paycheck for the sheer value of the service to their nation.

My ideal state would be none

You can't keep an air force functional with 10,000 active duty personnel.

No, but you can maintain the infrastructure necessary to build and train them, even if they are kept in an inactive state.

The idea is to adopt a hands-off approach to using the military offensively, relying more on human tactics such as state militias to provide a base that can be quickly mobilized, and on diplomacy and cyber-warfare to act as a deterrent.

1776 America in a nutshell

>No, but you can maintain the infrastructure necessary to build and train them, even if they are kept in an inactive state.

Nah.

If you don't use it, you lose it.

If an aircraft isn't constantly in the air at a consistent tempo, it may as well not exist.

This is true for naval forces and to some extent for armored.

it also very much depends on the size of the country itself, and the size and disposition of its neighbors. If I'm at peace with my neighbors I'd just as soon keep a bare-bones airforce

If I live in a world where America is content to blow most of its budget on its military in order to keep the world safe for democracy, I'd just as soon spend that tax revenue on my own citizens (thanks for the welfare, Murica)

The idea of having a militia in modern times is basically irrelevant except for small neutral homogeneous nations like Switzerland. This entire society you've constructed is basically a hellbent military state. But, dare I ask, what war exactly are all these professional soldiers fighting in? Most modern war is almost entirely based on air-superiority, so unless you have an industry entirely based on producing war equipment, it isn't viable. also, the parameters of this society is incredibly vague. For example, I could imagine this kind of thing being necessary in a place like Post Revolution China, but how exactly would this society work in say Canada, where there hasn't been a threat or war in mainland canada in hundreds of years.
How would diplomacy even work with non-hyper militarist nations?
And a better question, did you plagiarize this from starship troopers?

> So I'd like a system that helps boost beautiful people to the status they deserve, and encourage everyone to become beautiful.

They don't 'deserve' anything you nigger.

Massive murder sprees in the Philippines are par for the course, its not like anything would change, except that a good portion of the victims would be drug dealers.
The murders could burn themselves out and then that mess of stupid islands would be a decent place for once

The quickest root to AI, at the moment, looks like simulating an existing brain to start with, and such an AI would be emotional.

Even if you managed to create an AI from scratch, in order to govern humans, it would still need to understand emotion.

>The idea of having a militia in modern times is basically irrelevant except for small neutral homogeneous nations like Switzerland.
Tell that to the Iraqis, whose government is basically dependent upon shiite militias to fill the holes made by U.S airstrikes.

>This entire society you've constructed is basically a hellbent military state
That's ridiculous, considering how bare bones I'm talking about making the military. It would roughly approximate the Swiss model where we won't declare war on anyone, but aren't exactly sitting ducks, either. Encouraging people to invest in civic participation and physical health and self-sufficiency in the face of foreign invaders is a worthy investment for the state, with much better long term budgetary prospects than a bloated military-industrial complex whose only purpose is to act as a deterrent against other bloated military-industrial complexes, especially if we're talking about a world where there already is one, and there's no reason to compete against it.

>And a better question, did you plagiarize this from starship troopers?
Robert Heinlein was a left-wing twit until he married a conservative and then jumped on that bandwagon and wrote about a society where people still beat their children and voting was an earned privilege, neither of which I advocate for my ideal society.

That would have civil war in less than 1 year

>beating your children is wrong

It's nothing more than masculine sentimentalism. There's not a shred of research which doesn't conclude that hitting your children isn't exclusively harmful. All you're teaching them is that violence is an acceptable means of resolving situations, which is something entirely antithetical to a society built on principles of self-defense and free expression.

Children should be taught healthy outlets for their aggression, like athletics and friendly competition. They should be taught to respect and trust their fellow countrymen, not turn on one another like a pack of mad dogs.

anarcho-monarchism

I agree with this dude.

>its all le retarded rednecks that ruin everything
lol

>I know a lot of people like to say this. But there is an objective consensus on people who are aesthetically pleasing to look at, and people who are not.
Absolutely. But that consensus changes over time. How would you deal with this problem?
Also, what you are proposing is essentially a form of monarchy, since beautiful people would have the birthright to rule.
