Heavy hitters with moderate range but with a long reload and aim time. They have big HP pools with meh armor, speed is decent. At T6 and onwards they get a long travel time so hitting fast movers reliably can be difficult.

Basically this adding that T8+ they get really good. Tosa and Yamato can and will one shot any other BB of their same tier with the proper commander setup and >skill, while also covering most of the issues they had with previous ships of that line (scouts, AA, reload and aim times, accuracy). Also I would say they have the second best range, now that bongs are a thing.

The Yamato has horrid aim time and accuracy while the Tosa has four slow firing AA and no scouts. Japanese have the second best range after the Germans (Bongs have the second worst)

Both Tosa and Yamato has wonderful aim after a second salvo, and successive hits in the same spot reduce amor in said spot. That means a second salvo from them is a railgun that will pen no matter the ship.
