Even though I know it's a horrible wagecuck investment, I do play it. I buy about 2-4 tickets a month. Even though I'm trying to earn money by trying out businesses etc., deep down I know that it's my only chance of becoming rich before the age where being rich doesn't mean shit anymore (I'd say about 28). I'm 19 now. I'm playing it for the idea and to not suicide.
Do you play the lottery?
At 19 even if you put a modest amount of money into a 401k or something similar you'll be set for retirement. Don't listen to the speculation and get rich quick bullshit here.
the thing is i dont care about retirement. I'm a on a "good path" in terms of college and jobs. I honestly want to drive a lambo before my 30's
Elaborate on your good path that you're on plz
I'm getting a bachelor and masters degree in business economics in a top 100 university. But yeah this should land me an above average decent paying job. But my life would still suck though
>I honestly want to drive a lambo before my 30's
Rent one.
This. 28 here, rented one and drove it around the desert, went ~150mph, fast car, that's about it. No idea why people love them so much.
You would be making good money then. Upper 5 figures, very possibly 6 figures. Your issue with happiness won't be solved by money. Something else is going on OP. You're 19 so chances are you don't really know what's gonna make you happy or what you really want yet. I'm not saying you're on a bad track...you're on a great track. Just focus on finishing your school getting that good job and PLEASE start saving something up for retirement.
I play it on occasion (and buy like 5 tickets when I do) but I'm not the kind of guy that plays it every week or even every month. I just like taking a chance for fun really, I never expect to win, but you never know when your numbers might show up.
>deep down I know that it's my only chance of becoming rich
There are other ways, and engaging in something with terrible odds because "that's all I can afford" is terrible logic.
It's also why things that are accessible and promoted as "easy" (buying a lottery ticket, penny stocks, or a payday loan, etc) have the highest risk and/or worst return. They're designed to convince the low income consumer that a cheaper version of loans, equities, etc exist, and the structure and odds of return are identical.
>> don't really know what's gonna make you happy
I don't know, a hair transplant, better physical health and amazing opportunities to socialize would make me pretty happy
R9k detected, get the fuck out.
what? I'm just listing things that would objectively increase my quality of life
Yeah but be aware.
Under some old bad odds formula, if you bought 100 tickets per week, you would win the jackpot an average of once every 5,000 years!
The lottery is a tax on people who can't do math.
Also, "being rich doesn't mean shit after a certain age..." Those gems give me genuine laugh out loud moments every time I hear them.
Kid, if you were not born rich, you should only be so lucky to ever get your house paid off. All the better if you end up with millions for some reason.
only when the jackpot is ridiculously high
Once a month
barely costs a thing and it's a bit of fun
i dont play it, because i fear i hit big and die from a cocaine overdose
i just live in my truck down by the river and watch the telly
>guys at work buy into pool when it gets high
>never buy in
>always paranoid they're gonna win
Oh well. Least I'll move up a ton.
Because everyone else loves them. Car enthusiasts know it's a good car and it's become enough of a meme that when you see someone with one, you think "damn that guy is rich." It makes the women want you and the men want to be you.
Also, it's a pretty fun thing to drive.
I know how you feel, OP. For physical health, eat healthier and go to the gym. I only started a week ago and I feel great. I know my gains and my health are only going to go up from here. My hair is receding as well and I fear I'm going to lose it eventually, and I can't grow a decent beard to distract from my soon-to-be bald head, plus my chin is a bit weak. I'm hoping to do hair transplant and jaw surgery as well.
Right now I just finished high school and I have a minimum wage job, so I'm looking to save up money and get into affiliate marketing. It's great because if you research and know what you're doing, through trial and error, there's really no limit to how much you can earn. It's not easy because it does take some time and honestly, an ounce of luck that you find the right niches, but you probably have a lot higher chance of striking it rich with this than with the lottery. Good luck to you OP, and may we get the best social life, bitches, and health that money has to offer.
I think by that he means that it's more impressive, therefore giving you more social proof, to be rich AND young. You have less responsibilities when you're young, and you're at your physical peak. You get to go around and have fun, not worrying about your child or breaking your hip and not being able to climb that mountain or something on vacation.
>40K in savings a year
>spend about 100 a month on powerball tickets
one day boys. this is the only way i can be the powerful man i know i am
Hidden Dumb people tax
A great tip is to buy birthday and age.
For example you are a married woman born in 1984 Oct 27, your husband is born in 1982, so he's 34 years old
buy your birthday 19 8 4 10 27
buy your husband's age 34
These are the winning numbers of 1.5 billion Powerball jackpot several months ago.
You can also buy your father's or mother's birthday. Suppose you are born in 1982, that makes you 34 years old in 2016. Your father or mother is born in Oct 27, 1948.
buy father's or mother's birthday = 19 4 8 10 27
buy your age = 34
Combine these numbers and you'll win the 1.5 billion Powerball jackpot
Thats what every undergrad says but only a few of them actually stay sane enough to get their masters. I would focus on just trying to stay motivated enough to finish your undergrad
That sounds like a load of bullshit.

Is this satire? Surely people aren't this retarded.
Lotteries are literally idiot taxes.
Your "advice" is actually shit. If forced to play the lottery you should always pick the most obscure numbers possible. Always avoid 1-30 because they're used to construct dates and play only 35-70 type numbers. This lowers the odds of splitting the pot with some other dumbfucks should you actually win the thing.
idiot tax until you win ;) then you are the idiot.
Playing the lottery is retarded, but this advice is like next level bad because everyone plays their birthdays so numbers 1-12 and 1-30 are super common so even if you bink it you're way more likely to split the prize and miss out on millions
Lottery is scum tier retarded "investment"
You're more likely to get rich by just taking 10 bucks to a roulette wheel and letting it ride on black for a few hours.
If you think the most retarded use of money in the world is your best shot at getting rich, then its no wonder that none of the other things you've tried have worked.
...
Lots of sore losers in this thread.
Obviously the best use for a lotto ticket is psychological, to get you through a bad day or week.
They're way cheaper than the drinks most people poison themselves with at the end of the day. Also cheaper than smokes, movies, video games, and most other vices.
Obviously just buy one at a time.
>idiot tax until you win
No, then you're just a really lucky idiot. There are a million luck-based get rich quick schemes that are more likely to pay off.
>hurr durr lottery is a stupid people tax
gambling is fun m8 nothing wrong with that
>I buy a lottery ticket then sit in a dark room staring at it for the rest of the week
>I derive as much enjoyment from being stupid as others do from video games, movies, or alcohol.
oh boy
>spending one dollar for entertainment is awful
Its one of the cheapest forms of entertainment possible. Why are you guys this retarded?
>people talk about the lotto like its an investment
>"lotto as an investment is retarded"
>ITS JUST GAMBLING GAMBLING IS FUN NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT
> I never expect to win, but you never know when your numbers might show up.
its 50/50 basically, either you win or you don't.
mega millions would actually would have slightly better odds
I dual majored in math and econ, graduated cum laude and am working minimum wage. Degrees dont automatically give you huge earning potential. It isnt 1979. My only saving grace is low student debt.
