So I'm finally getting around to playing the Artorias of the Abyss DLC on a NG+
Would I be okay just rushing straight to getting the Lordvessel and starting the DLC or will I be getting my ass kicked because I didn't spend enough time leveling up? Currently at Capra Demon at SL 88
I have some concerns about starting a magic character in Scholar of The First Sin. I'm aiming to do mostly pve with some pvp and co op scattered here and there, so what's viable for this playthrough? Is magic easy to understand without having to look everything up about it? What spells or otherwise INT/Faith scaling weapons are essential for starting?
Magic is fine and probably the strongest route for PvE really.
Pick dark or pyro as they are the simplest I guess.
Dark pump Int/Faith equally. Get to 30/30.
Make your weapon dark, who cares what it is.
Buff weapon with dark weapon buff.
Enjoy damage higher than pure physical unless shit has changed since I last played it.
Use the great nukes you get from dark.
Upgrade a chime and staff as needed for the spells.
Couldn't be easier. Fun too.
If you're worried about which catalyst/chime is best just check the wiki's and pick the ones you want but you aren't fucked if you upgrade a different one earlier. Weapon wise I don't remember which is "best" but any dark infused one should do. Unless I'm having a brain fart and forgetting you can't do that in Dark souls 2.

The reason they're great is their damage, speed, plus the fact that hte r2's can be charged to be like the old DaS1 heavy attack, or used uncharged. BK halberd is now the BK glaive, and the heavy attack can track 180 degrees. BKGA is one of the heaviest hitting weapons in the game
